Lesley, cool. That ought to be pretty useful. I had no clue that feature existed. – Kichigai, on July 28, 2008 17:48

Kichigai, you can add a custom label to locations if you wanted to show your office, building, etc. You would just need to enter your location on the web like this: Address [College TV Station] and then you can placemark locations with your custom labels so you don't have to enter it like this every time. :) – Lesley, on July 28, 2008 17:07

This sounds awesome. I think, though, this could go a little further than just by building. I know it wouldn't be the easiest thing to implement, but what about specific offices too? I work at the college TV station and I'd love to be able to let people know I'm in the office via noting it's the station's office, not just the building. But hey, if I can tell BrightKite I'm in Bozorth instead of Savitz, I'm a happy man.
A comment on the question "Making privacy settings retroactive" in Brightkite:
Great, this was one thing that was confusing. Does it make sense not to just have a retroactive function, but a global real time policy? Meaning, if someone clicks on the BK url, the information on the page is related, real-time, to how the users has their privacy settings set. As an aside, this is what I was expecting the 'privacy' slider to do. – parker, on May 10, 2008 18:57

This would be great... my username is katrina_, and the underscore gets dropped, so I end up tracking Katrina ... I get a lot of texts about the hurricane, as you can imagine, which generally includes four or five people retweeting the same thing. It's getting old, but I don't want to miss @replies!

i've actually started doing this.. its something to do when you're bored in class, but you have to find the exact building you want to add the placemark too. its kind of neat. – Xavier, on April 29, 2008 05:15

katrina_ asked a question in Brightkite on April 28, 2008 19:30:
Making privacy settings retroactiveI have my privacy settings currently set to letting only trusted friends see my exact location. This is something I had changed after posting two photos - those still have my old privacy settings attached. My friends who aren't trusted are able to see my exact location attached to those old photos. Am I missing something, is there an easier way to make my privacy settings retroactive, or is the only way to repost things under the new privacy settings?

This is an @reply from my test account from ~1 hour ago. (I removed the older ones, but at least there's still one)
I think you may be right and it may just be a problem with my test account.
I did try to delete the account but got a message that account removal was very temporarily disabled. So perhaps the account was caught between existence and non-existence?
