I like using cellity Twitter, because it's small (16 kB Java app), text-only and therefore fast and economical on data - which is ideal with my 4-year-old phone and low but finite data costs. You won't be subjected to such restrictions, so you can run something with more features. Quite a few mobile Twitterers use TinyTwitter (100 kB - not very tiny! - and too big for my old phone).

So there's plenty of choice - hope you find the one that suits your needs.

I use Google Talk from my BlackBerry. Try using that, or some other Jabber server, once the IM is back up later this weekend.
