I have no idea, lol. I guess because once they have made their profile private, the "Follow/Unfollow" button disappears to disable any more followers. On Twitter, the button is always there but just awaits approval by the private profile. I guess this allows the user to keep their old followers easily without having to worry about approving a new person, other than for friendship, but makes it harder for the pre-fan to unfollow?

There is http://www.plurk.com/psearch but it is just not the same as seeing plurkers who are plurking at that exact moment, sort of like the public timeline.

Apparently My Friends -> People I follow -> Finding them there and then removing (X) them through that?
