A comment on the problem "New Safari Books Online Website - Step Backward" in O'Reilly Media:

For me the new design is a disaster. As an OpenBSD user I can no longer see any
of my books since Adobe does not have a flash player for this OS. I have a Nokia
N800 that can see the mobile version but it is not how I mostly access the site and of course navigating the site is brutal; e.g. if I go to my favourites (where I have about 50 books) it shows them a few at a time so I have to keep finding and clicking the next button. (The non-mobile site has also adopted this horrible feature and I can find no setting to change the number of books shown per page.) I'm not on dial-up any more and I liked the old "my favourites"page much more where I could see everything at once. (I know with the new site I could create folders to manage my books and reduce clicking but c'mon, there's only fifty. Why does implementing a new design require that you throw
out what was convenient with the old system?)
For me the beauty of the safari site was that I could access it from any javascript
capable browser so if the machine had a gui I had a good chance of reading my
books where ever I was. Now I have two Windows work machines and my mobile device that can see the site, and they are not the computers I normally use with the site.
If anyone has any non-flash tricks that will let me use the site, please let me know,
otherwise it's back to (public library) paper for me...
Thanks,
Kenny-
