Ugh, I know, the 500 error messages are driving me nuts, too. My pal (and former roommate) Eerac recently helped me move the site to a new server, which, overall, seems to be working better than the old one -- but as you can see, there are still some kinks we're working out. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about the error messages you're getting -- it's a huge help!

Believe me, I understand where you're coming from. I really, really wish I hadn't posted a note I received from my roommate -- and I still feel guilty about it. And personal attacks from random anonymous people in the comments section still get to me, even though I know all the reasons why it shouldn't.
At the same time (not to get too self-righteous about it) I'm a pretty big advocate of transparency and taking responsibility for personal decisions, even when, in retrospect, they maybe weren't the best ones, and I don't want to set a precedent that runs counter to those ideas. If the Myspace note-writer herself had asked me to take it down, I would have, with an explanation. But I think this is a little different.
So, how about this: I'll leave the post up for the next few days, but once it gets bumped from the front page (and everyone has said their piece about it and moved on), I'll remove it from the archives. How does that sound?-

So, wait -- are they showing up with a delay, or are they not showing up at all?
Since more people are taking advantage of the easier bolding and italicizing features, more comments than usual have been getting trapped in the site's spam filter, which as described <here>, means there's sometimes a slight delay in posting.
I've changed the spam filtering settings so that should be happening less frequently now, but I haven't seen any reason why comments would be completely disappearing. Can you give me any more details?

bold changes a comin'! (and italicized ones, too.)my genius pal eerac is helping to move us to a new server and an updated version of wordpress, which should give us more freedom to play around with all sorts of delicious new features (wysiwyg commenting! digg-style ranking! polls!)

excellent idea, andy -- and one i've actually been trying to get going for oh, months now. unfortunately, it looks like polls (and most of the other fun plug-ins i've been playing with) will have to wait until i find a more reliable (but affordable) host that won't shut down the site every time a post makes it to the front page of digg.
