I think I busted the fun little thing....I think I busted the fun little thing. The following command set produces the listed results.
"cmd>c00ff00"
"Fade to r,g,b:0,FF,0"
(makes a nice bright green)
"cmd>c0000ff"
"Fade to r,g,b:0,0,FF"
(makes a nice bright blue)
"cmd>cff0000"
"Fade to r,g,b:FF,0,0"
(makes a blank BlinkM ...lights out, no red) :-(
"cmd>g"
"Current color: r,g,b:FF,0,0"
The bad thing I did was reverse the SDA and SCL. Would that bust it? Did I get it with static? Never messed up on the supply voltage and ground.....dang.

connection to Arduino mega?Hi Tod;
I am also having the problem of getting the BlinkM to communicate. Does the Arduino mega have diffrent pins as well? All the getting started steps work as described but the BlinkM just keeps following the default color sequence. Here is photo of connections: (edit) well there would be a photo but keep getting an [oject error] no matter what file format I use, as a jpeg it is 750kb. hmmmm.-
Keshka started following the problem "Lights up but unable to alter :(" in ThingM.
