I think the biggest issue is that the world does not need another stand alone application that we all need to maintain that already does what is already being done. Especially one that does not handle their repositories correctly (see my other UNANSWERED posting regarding signing keys not being supplied) and is not in the standard repositories of any major Linux distro. Co-operation always works better than isolation. I realize that you application has additional features, but why are you re-inventing a wheel that works perfectly to add features on... instead of just adding on.

And now, the real issues comes out. You guys are now finding out why Java never replaced C++ as a cross platform language... it does not work with anything else. As a matter of fact, both Python and Ruby make better cross platform programming languages than Java does. Both of these languages can embrace and extend the existing C code, as well as use the native fonts on the system.

I am finding that the Linux version of the product is looking pretty awful compared to native applications, and as a Linux user, I am not used to as much spit and polish as a Windows user would, let along a Mac user.

I can't speak for others, but I am loosing confidence in the YuuGuu team to deliver on the promise of a great idea.

No Gnome tray icon, or Indicator Applet
When my Yuuguu starts up in Ubuntu 9.04, it can be on screen, minimized, or closed, but will not go to the tray, or use the Indicator Applet. While it never used the Indicator Applet (preferred behavior), it did used to minimize to the Gnome Tray. Now, there is no option for this, and it does not happen automatically.

Can you bring back the tray icon, or even better, support the Indicator Applet (https://launchpad.net/indicator-applet)

    Thx

    Apt signing key
When you add the repository to keep your YuuGuu installation updated automatically in Ubuntu, it causes the following error:
W: GPG error: http://update.yuuguu.com hardy Release: The following signatures
couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY
    483881FD2506E8CC

This is cause because you have not published your public key that needs to be added with the apt-key command. This is annoying to me, but really confuses more novice users like my mother. Could you please fix this by publishing your key

    Thx

    A Better Ubuntu Install Procedure
On your page for installing in Ubuntu you make two big errors:

    1) Never update /etc/apt/sources.list directly. Instead, the contents you describe should be placed into /etc/apt/sources.list.d/yuuguu.list, this way, it will survive a system upgrade because it is not placed in a file under package management for another package.

    2) You never published your apt signing key. Following these directions will cause errors in your update. I am also submitting a error report on this situation

    Integrating with Pidgen/libPurple/Adium
Yuuguu is a wonderfully useful product, but its interface is abhorrent. Pidgin does the contact thing really well... It even allows me to integrate my Skype (right click on a Skype contact and I can initiate a call, chat, etc). Yuuguu would be sooooo much better if it plugged into the already superior, and open sourced, interfaces, and kept working on the screen sharing it already does so well.
