Phantom Data Charges on a phone with no data!at 80 dollars a month, fido has the most expensive 25 dollar plan available. I signed up for the month-to-month plan for 25 dollars, and now for the 2nd month in a row, I am getting billed for data i didn't use! (i use a software-side block for all data, since fido told me they "couldn't and wouldn't provide me this service.) Isn't it amazing that after blocking all data to my phone, i have now spent nearly 50 dollars on phantom data? God I cannot wait until telus goes gsm. I expect someone to contact me back, and not have to go through a phone tree. Something also of interest: upon searching, I see there are at least 5 other such complaints. This is beginning to look like corporate "catch us if you can."

Martin,
Thanks for your information on the Do not call registry. Let me ask you this:
Where exactly did I give my consent to be placed on a list to be contacted which I can't be removed from?
This, separate from the Do Not Call Registry is a violation of the law. By law, any list you are added to you must consent to, and if you were added and do not want to be, you have the legal right to be removed.
In this case, the company you have "provided" the numbers to has used them for use outside of what you have contracted them to do, and they have no means of removing users from these lists.
Fido will remove me from this list if I provide my information. This is only so this complaint will go away. What I am concerned about here, as are the hundreds of other complainers on the site I provided previously are all similarly harassed DAILY by this company which you are doing business with and have been for some months despite fielding calls about these issues.
Sorry to go on about this, but the bigger issue is the removal of SMT from the equation and thus stopping these calls IMMEDIATELY for all affected users.
Have you bothered to read the claims against this company? They have a poor track record at best and at worst are engaging in illegal activities. I ask this question once again to you your head of Customer Relations, your head of Retention, and your VP of Marketing. Do you want them associated with your company? Is the cost of being guilty by association worth it in the end?
Hundreds of unhappy customers. Is it worth the cost per acquisition?

Martin,
Please explain why you would do business with a company which violates the do not call registry. My mobile has been listed on the registry since its inception, and now since i joined fido, i am harassed twice daily by this company (at 10:30am and 7:30 pm like clockwork.)
My complaint is not in a vaccuum as witnessed by the 15 pages of similar complaints to mine on this site: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-...
Explain also why calls to fido begging to block the number (a service which fido claims to provide, at no additional charge) are met with refusals to block this number.
Please also explain why calls made directly to the SMT office are met with no living person on the end of the line, and "mailbox full" messages when you make it through the phone tree to the "please remove me from this list" area. These are all red flags of SCAM behaviour.
I understand fido has made a business decision to hire telemarketers, but ask your superiors who hired SMT why they would associate themselves and their well-developed brand with a company which has so many barely legal practices? YOU should be very concerned with who you have gotten yourselves involved with, not concerned that customers have had enough.
You have 3+ months to fix this before telus goes GSM and you have wide defection rates. This is not a matter of smoothing the waters. This is a major retention issue.
In closing, Fido needs to ask themselves whether the cost of upselling or acquiring leads through such shady practices is really worth the cost to the brand.

FIDO SELLS YOUR PHONE # TO SCAM TELEMARKETERSFido sold my mobile phone number to a marketing company called SMT marketing. These people phish customers over the phone by asking for such information as passport numbers and drivers license information. What's more is the calls will not stop coming from SMT telemarketing and fido will not block their number.
