Kichigai reported a problem in Brightkite on August 29, 2008 22:17:
Checking in with coordinates and a name failsIf I send in a text message with an update as follows:
@Coordinates-Here [Location name here]
If I try as below, it fails as well:
@Coordinates[Company]
Basically what I'm doing is trying to log in to on-campus locations with coordinates and naming the building I'm in.
A comment on the question "Why can't I do an SMS search for businesses near GPS coordinates?" in Brightkite:
Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I'm entering this:
?Super America near [Coordinates here] – Kichigai, on August 29, 2008 22:13
Kichigai replied on August 29, 2008 22:10 to the idea "Show me the photo in the email message." in Brightkite:
The only reasons I could think of not doing that is that bandwidth costs money (but they're burning it on the page anyway) and that they might want to direct people to the page for future monitization (ads, promotions, etc). Not that any of that is bad, and not that BrightKite is having any issues with that, but I'm actually quite glad the company is actually considering this.-

Kichigai asked a question in Brightkite on August 11, 2008 23:05:
Why can't I do an SMS search for businesses near GPS coordinates?If I send in a query for businesses (by name) near GPS coordinates I get an error. Perhaps this could just balloon into a features like "Check me into the SuperAmerica nearest to these coordinates" but for now I'd settle for a search. I know I can do a search like "SuperAmerica in Eagan, MN" but that doesn't always get me the nearest.
A comment on the problem "Check-ins via both SMS and E-Mail failing" in Brightkite:
For SMS, it seems to vary. Nine times out of ten, it's reliable, today it's been a little iffy. Twitter via SMS is fine, but not sure what that means. BrightKite just wasn't responding. I'd check-in, and nothing would happen. I take a shot at it with e-mail, and it worked fine (until later, when the GMail issues apparently began) I just found out about the GMail issue myself, so I've been trying to do more stuff via Exchange now (my provider is a little slower, but at least it works). – Kichigai, on August 11, 2008 22:49
A comment on the problem "Check-ins via both SMS and E-Mail failing" in Brightkite:
It's unresponsive. I'll send something in, and it won't reply. It only occurs sometimes, however. My carrier is AT&T, though my phone is unlocked. I'm using GMail for e-mail, and on occasion Exchange mail via Mail2Web (mostly GMail, however). – Kichigai, on August 11, 2008 21:38
A comment on the problem "Nokia Web Browser has issues with the Mobile Web Interface (Mixed HTML/WML?)" in Brightkite:
It just comes up as a download. It happens randomly at random pages. Sometimes it's at the search, sometimes it's commenting, sometimes it's the home page. – Kichigai, on August 11, 2008 21:37

Nokia Web Browser has issues with the Mobile Web Interface (Mixed HTML/WML?)The Browser in S60v3 (Prior to Feature Pack 1) seems to have an issue with the Mobile Web page. Web (the true web browser) doesn't seem to like all pages coded for WAP, and treats them like downloads. I'm often finding this cropping up quite randomly. Using the Services browser (intended for WAP, but far less functional) I have no problems, but it's slower and more of a pain to use. Is this just a relic from an older revision, or a part of the design?

Check-ins via both SMS and E-Mail failingI've been trying to check in at locations during the day using SMS and Mobile E-Mail all day and it's been unreliable at best. Using the web interface is inconvenient, so it would be a boon if this could get stabilized.

Random spaces showing up in my postsWhen I post notes via SMS or e-mail (even when photos are attached) random spaces end up in my posts (mostly in the middle of words). It's not really much of a problem as it is an annoyance.

What about implementing an SMS/e-mail interface for that feature? – Kichigai, on August 10, 2008 01:25-
