kobi shared an idea in Wuala on November 19, 2008 10:29:
Collective StorageHello Wuala employees,
me and my friends want to use wuala as a storage/share place for our projects.
since we work with videos, we'd probably want to buy storage from you.
The problem is, the user who'd buy would have all the capacity himself, and that's not the intention.
What I aim for is something like a collective storage, shared between our users.
some may need 2GB, others 20GB, etc. so it's not even about splitting it evenly.
I want it as a collective storage. (users are limited by what's left, but cannot use it for their own account)
Perhaps you can base it on a group, so the group members can share the storage, but we may make more groups later.
It's best in my opinion to have a configuration page for the buyer, either in wuala itself (prefs) or your webpage, where s/he can decide how much storage to allocate as "collective storage", and how to split it across chosen groups.
Ofcourse, it doesn't matter how you choose to do it, just that I'd love that feature to happen.
Thanks alot

Hi again!
I analyzed again different logs while the database synched with Wuala. There could be a bug in my database so the files were deleted by the database itself via file system integration in Wuala. I apologize for blaming Wuala to delete the files and wanted to thank for the replies and suggestions I've got concering this topic.
I would like to admit that with the newer releases of Wuala, it seems a very stable and reliable backup system.

Before I deleted the files, the Downloaded % for the files was 100%. Now after deleting and re-adding them, the Downloaded % for the files says 0%. Which might explain why the storage hasn't been adjusted. Shouldn't the files say Downloaded 100%?
While I don't mind having an extra 1GB of storage, I think I'd rather have my storage reflected correctly. Plus it doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in the service when they can't determine how much space I'm using. It makes me wonder if the files are even there.

Since you've once uploaded those files, when you upload them again wuala treats them as duplicates and you don't have to wait for the upload. However your space quota hasn't been updated, which is strange...
Maintenance occurs after you add your files to wuala and then re-occurs after some time (a few weeks I think?), so it is normal that it has stopped when you closed wuala. If you keep your files in cache they will eventually be re-maintained. I know that a Start/Stop maintenance button (or something like that) would be nice, it was suggested....

There is something wrong with this app. At least something wrong with mine. After I got the storage used corrected, I then tried to upload some of my files again (that I previously deleted). I tried to upload around 400 files (approximately 1 GB).
First, it didn't upload any files, but put many (but not all) in maintenance. This morning (over 24 hours later) there were still 72 files in maintenance. I restarted the app because I lost my connection. When it restarted, there were no files in maintenance any longer. And when I went to look at my 400 files that I tried to upload, they all seemed to have a status of Downloaded 0% (I checked about 20 files, not all 400). But there isn't anything in the upload queue or the maintenance queue (and yes, I did ctrl-alt-p).
What is going on? Where are my files? If I do a My Files/Properties, it says 430 items, 842 MB. But the storage in the lower right hand corner is 0.06 GB of 6.8 GB used. And as I said, none of my files seem to have uploaded. Just the icons and the titles seem to be present. What is going on? Shouldn't there be files in my upload queue?

Clearing the cache and waiting a few hours did the trick for me. After I cleared the cache, the cache size went from 200 MB to 2.4 GB. And my limit is set at 250MB. That was weird. But this morning, the cache size was back down to 200 MB and my space used is now at 0.06 of 6.5GB. Thanks for the help!

Hi Pat, last thing I can think of, is that sometimes there are hidden files because they haven't finished uploading. (but the interface should let you know there are such files)
(stretch) other things to try: (no real logic here)
-walk to every folder in your hierarchy.
-try to empty cache.
-one of the devs should have a look at your account on the remote side/db side
-let the wuala client idle along for 2 hours..
-perhaps reinstalling.. (i recall something changed regarding the way files are saved locally-probably not related but if you're desperate.....)

No. No group postings. I have only dragged and dropped (and deleted) files to my Music file. Nowhere else. Ctrl+Alt+p didn't do anything. It said "one pending change" in the status at the bottom, but it immediately disappeared with no changes in the amount of storage used. It still shows in the lower right hand corner that I have 1.4GB of 6.1 GB used. But the My Files properties still shows 65 MB used (which is correct).

My space shows that I have used 1.4GB of my 5.8GB, but if I look at the Properties on My Files it shows I have used 65MB. I have deleted all my files, so I should have almost all of my 5.8GB available. After I deleted my files, this never got updated. I tried the Ctrl-Alt-p, but that didn't work. I've restarted it multiple times, and that didn't work. Is there any way to get the storage used corrected?-
