My mobile tweets seem to take a very long time to show up on Twitter. A tweet I sent once took about 2 hours to show up on Twitter:

I don't like that it takes that long, I don't think it should take more than one hour. A mobile tweet I sent yesterday at 6pm *still* hasn't shown up.
I set up my mobile phone to only receive DMs and send updates.

A few things have to be in place before Twitter will send updates to your phone
There are several relevant threads which I'm tagging sms problems as I find them.
Have a look at those which have recently been active, and you may find something which helps you.
Some additional information would be of help in identifying what may be going wrong, since there are so many 'suspects':
- Your country
- Your phone carrier
- Your Twitter number for SMS (e.g. 40404, 21212, or the long international number).

Hrm. So, I added the "1" for the U.S. Country Code, and still nothing. It's weird. For a while I got some texts back, saying I could get started, "what are you doing?", etc., but I still couldn't tweet.
So I started over with the device setup process, and then nothing. I tried the "1" for the Country Code, and still nothing.
I am sad.
Anyone? Please?

Hi Kristie. Twitter has an FAQ page for people who can't verify their phones.

I don't see why mine isn't working either. I try to add my cell to Twitter as well but I never get a verification back. I DO type in my number correctly in Twitter I DO type in Twitter's number correctly into my cell & I text it & I DO type in the code correctly as well. Why am I not receiving a text back telling me it is verified or on the page telling me it is verified?

Jade, there were two different accounts, and yes, you had inadvertently created 'thejade1' when you were trying to verify your phone for 'thejade'.
This usually happens when Twitter is unable to match the phone number that is sending the verification code with the phone number that you had entered in http://twitter.com/devices.
There's a good explanation for how this happens in another thread.
The usual culprits are -- the leading zeroes are not removed, or the wrong country code format is used.
Here's the hint that Twitter provides in the Devices page:
Please precede your number with a "+" and your country code (leaving off the leading 0 of your number if applicable).
Examples: +447781488126 or +12125551212
Since you appear to be in the US, the example +12125551212 would be applicable to you, where +1 is the country code, 212 is the area code, and 5551212 is the phone number.

Hi Jade... are you still having this problem? I checked http://twitter.com/jade1 and it seems that all your updates are currently being posted to this account 'from txt'. Did you expect your updates to appear elsewhere?
Also, it looks like you currently have two accounts? http://twitter.com/thejade and http://twitter.com/thejade1?
If yes, could you kindly see this reply from Twitter in another thread which explains how this happened and what can be done about it.
Also, fwiw... since you appear to be in the US, the format for your phone number would be like this:
+1 areacode number
So if your area code is 212, and your phone number is 9876543, then you would enter your phone number in this format in the Devices page:
+12129876543

Hi John. Yes, unfortunately, there is a known list of mobile providers that don't support shortcodes. If your phone has a data plan that's reasonable, I suggest trying the Twitter mobile web version at http://m.twitter.com or even the third-party site http://m.slandr.net. – mdy, on July 10, 2008 03:36
