As a temporary fix, you can block someone the following way:
I'm going to use GeekMommy as an example:

1. Go to the bottom of their profile page, in this case http://twitter.com/geekmommy

2. Copy the RSS link, again, using GeekMommy as an example, it is: http://twitter.com/statuses/user_time...

3. Note the user number and append it to this link (http://twitter.com/blocks/confirm/), such as http://twitter.com/blocks/confirm/430...

4. Follow the blocking instructions as usual.

I'm having this issue as well. I'm being harassed by an idiot republican mccain supporter who wants to harass me because I'm supporting Obama. I don't follow them. They don't follow me. I cannot block them anymore.

Agreed! I have someone who's not following me that's being rediculous and I can't block him. This was a poor decision. Improvements need to be made regarding the block system and non followers.

I just started a different thread about this - b/c when they moved the block link - it removed it from people not already following you.

I like to block the spammers before they follow me. Before there use to be a block user link where I could block them. Now it's gone!

We have the same request! Great minds think alike! haha! I call it having an "Inner Circle".

My work around in the meantime has been to create two accounts. One account follows hundreds, while the second account only follows a handful whose updates I really don't want to miss.

It would be nice to put some of the people I am following on a separate tab. I am following about 50 people, and while I try to read my twitter a few times a day, I can't. Well if all 50 of my people make 5 posts a day, that's 250 posts I have to read through. It would be nice if I could put my "favorites" on a different group/tab so I make sure I don't miss any of their posts, and I can browse through my other followers.
