Kerim Satirli replied on December 14, 2008 22:34 to the question "Charging for a BETA? ...without very many services?" in The Cosmic Machine:
Liron,
you can stress-test Eventbox for 15 days (and even more, once they add major new features, because the trial periods will be reset, or so they say) and that should be sufficient time for you to figure out if the app works for you or not.
During those 15 days, you will not see any ads at all (unless your friends tweet them) and you will see more than just tweets, you will also get RSS, Facebook, Flickr and Reddit integration.
Although I am no developer, I am a heavy user of EB and I would not want an ad-supported trial / full version of the app. Ads annoy the living hell out of me and are my #1 reason not to try an app.
I realize that everyone has different needs / wishes and I can see how this might frustrate you, but I strongly suggest you give Eventbox a try.
The "beta" moniker really isnt true if you ask me, because I associate "beta" with applications that crash and Eventbox is very stable for me (so far, in over a month, it has crashes but once).
Kerim Satirli replied on November 21, 2008 08:39 to the question "Charging 20$ for a beta?!" in The Cosmic Machine:
Essentially, what I am byuing is a pig in a poke...! I would be pre-financing your development by purchasing an app that is far from being usable on a daily basis and about which I don't know enough to expect it to be finished any time soon...!
I have used Eventbox for the last seven days and it has been running without any problems so far. Yes, I have had trouble updating once but that issue was fixed within seconds.
Eventbox does what I need, the developers listen to me and not only do they listen, they reply too.
Don't get me wrong, I would gladly pay $ 15-20 for this once it is completed, but I wouldn't have my car dealer convince me to pay for the new car now and have the wheels delivered some time in the future...! ;)
Seeing how the wheels are the second most important part of the car, I do not see how you can make such a comparision. Eventbox drives very well and has, so far, exposed me to more information than 6 gallons of gas in my car could if I were to take it out for a drive.
Like others said, if you do not agree with the price, voice your concerns and then move on. Those that bought it obviously see value in it and are fine with the idae of paying and supporting the developers.
Eventbox is developed in a different way than say Microsoft Office where the product has to be ready by the time it ships. Office does not see continous improvements only bugfixes (until a new major version comes out), Eventbox sees new improvements every day.
Kerim Satirli replied on November 21, 2008 08:29 to the idea "Integrate Google Reader" in The Cosmic Machine:
Google Reader is, in a certain sense, just another social network.
GR supports the inclusion of your friends shared items, which in turn is the basis for a social knowledge network and as such, has every right to be inside Eventbox.
"being in the know" is as much a part of my social life as everything else Eventbox offers, because often times, I am reading my friends blogs via RSS (Google Reader in my case) and respond via Twitter or Facebook.
Kerim Satirli replied on November 14, 2008 16:45 to the question "Privatise specific folders." in Treasuremytext:
this does make a lot of sense, but how would you specify that? my private folders still have long names, eg "personal messages" and prefixing every message with that doesnt make sense (hence the shortcode request, diff topic though).
when you implement this feature paul, you could make it even more powerful by providing a folder specific rss file

Kerim Satirli replied on November 06, 2008 13:48 to the idea "Feature Request: extend the folders interface" in Treasuremytext:
I am glad that this idea has finally been implemented.
Now, for the next step, I would like to be able to assign shortcodes to messages.
say I have a folder called "Treasuremytext Events", I would not want to type "@Treasuremytext Events" all the time, but rather @abc1 and have that recognized as the shortcode.

Kerim Satirli reported a problem in Treasuremytext on October 11, 2008 21:10:
add additional spacing in Textstream pagesThe current Textstreams look kinda cramped, for example: http://www.treasuremytext.com/SMS/k.s...
note how there is no break between "from a O2 XDA Flame" and "(nearly) live updates from the frontlines!"
please fix this :)
