Thanks for the suggestion. Many people have suggested groups for a while, but that also brings up many un-answered questions. What kind of settings should one be able to set across groups? What if the security settings of a group conflicts with that of the individual? This is no easy feat! – Jessica Mah, on June 12, 2008 01:22

That's why the wiki holder needs to have some options, such as, at minimum, the ability to turn commenting on and off. But, also requiring a valid email address, or other measures can make a difference. – Kayza Zajac, on June 12, 2008 00:24

Your other suggestion was more on target - PBWiki users on public Wikis always have comment privileges, comments from non-pbwiki account holders should be allowed by default, with the ability to turn it off. – Kayza Zajac, on June 11, 2008 22:53

Agree totally with Tim. There is an inherent inertia to comment that needs no further barrier. I would in an ideal scenario have the abilty for open access combined with the open access to comment. Interaction has to be spontaneous and genuine.....see the proliferation of the message boards - great tools. – Callie, on June 11, 2008 22:35

I think that if we require users to create pbwiki accounts to comment we'll get less comments.. I know that my wiki gets about new 200 unique visitors a day that have never been to the wiki before.. and it goes back to the amount of typing that you'd need to do to leave a comment versus the amount of typing your planning on doing in your comment – Tim, on June 11, 2008 18:56
