Indeed, I tried it with the 20081012build and it became much faster, still somewhat slow with sorting after each character, couldn't it be set to search only after enter is pushed. I think that would feel faster

Same problem here, takes seconds to search every character, the problem becomes very obvious when Songbird is compared to other programs.

I have the same problem with SB, both Winamp and WMP, and foobar can do it, I won't adjust my collection for one media player when all the other programs can do it.
