A comment on the idea "VZNavigator's not perfect, so let the users help" in Verizon:
(I posted a reply to you asking a question about the NAVTEQ interface. I had trouble deleting it, so it may still be here, but it isn't relevant anymore as I've answered my own question.)
This is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind and was hoping for. I acknowledge that no mapping service can be perfect, so all I ask for is an easy avenue for feedback just like this. Actually, I would also ask for a one-month-or-less turnaround on updates instead of three months, but that's more NAVTEQ's problem than anyone else's. :-)
Thank you for your informative reply! I really appreciate it. – Larry Gilbert, on September 16, 2009 16:31

Thor and Amy, I think you have provided excellent responses to the newest comments here, above and beyond the call.
For the public record, I do not see this problem anymore. Today I am using Firefox 3.5.2, NoScript 1.9.8.8 (with getsatisfaction.com set to "Allow"), and CookieSafe 3.0.5 (with getsatisfaction.com set to "Session" and without the global-allow setting that I mentioned before). I have not experimented with Cookie Monster.

Larry Gilbert posted an update in Digium on July 17, 2009 17:14:
Developers, Switchvox Extend is for youIn case you missed all of the fanfare elsewhere, Digium has released Switchvox Extend, providing an API to Switchvox from your own applications. While Digium has its own official libraries for Perl and PHP, the developer community is already getting involved and has brought forth pyswitchvox, a new Python library. We're excited to see what else people come up with.

Larry Gilbert replied on July 17, 2009 16:59 to the problem "HTML in replies not working?" in Get Satisfaction:
Rebeca, with some experimentation, you may discover some workarounds. For example, this phrase is surrounded with <em> tags, and this phrase is surrounded with <i> tags. The former doesn't seem to work while the latter does. So that's one workaround (although distasteful to an HTML purist like me). :-)
The core problem is that the documentation of what's allowed is inconsistent with what actually is allowed. Er, what actually is allowed. ;-)-

Larry Gilbert marked one of abby's replies in Tipjoy as useful. abby replied to the question "Tipjoy still active?".
A comment on the question "Tipjoy still active?" in Tipjoy:
I'm pleased to hear that, Abby. Nevertheless, wouldn't it be a good service to your users to let them know about that publicly? The only clue anywhere on the website shows up when someone tries to access their pledges, in which case they see this message: "Our cash-in systems are down for a bit of maintenance, but will be back soon. Thanks for your patience." To me, a "bit of maintenance" means something like "we had to take our database offline because we found some inconsistencies and needed to clean them up," and "soon" means "within a day or two, if not today." So I think this status message is overly vague, if not out-and-out misleading.
As an aside, I am happy that Tipjoy is using Get Satisfaction for support, but I think it would be a great idea to let people know that. When I told Mr. Kiciman of the existence of this page, he expressed surprise and said he didn't know there was any kind of support at all (short of direct e-mails to the founders). – Larry Gilbert, on July 17, 2009 16:36

Larry Gilbert shared an idea in Verizon on June 26, 2009 18:22:
Lower barriers to app developersIn this new era of smartphones, Verizon Wireless's lackluster selection of downloadable apps is its weakest link. VZW needs to nurture its development ecosystem by adopting a freer and less costly process for accepting third-party applications. Alternatively, VZW could adopt a lower-tier development track with looser restrictions for apps that do not require use of the network. This will allow more (and, arguably better) choices to customers, and it will help attract and retain those with sophisticated needs. As things stand, offerings from competitors like Apple cast a long, long shadow over what VZW provides.
