I want to add to the topic, that these "multi-segments" and the editing of trips should also include a "multi-segment" means of transport option!
This means, e.g. I travelled by car around 50% of my route, then drove some hours with an intercity train and then travelled the last nine kilometres via car again. This should be possible to add, so one can achieve a more precise carbon footprint statistic.

Great idea, but its current implementation is quite poor sadly.

Namely that it does not recognise multi-part trips, so I have to copy each individual stop, and then when it copies it does not maintain them as a multi-part trip, and there is no way that I have found to merge them into an existing trip either, so im stuck with 10 separate trips now, with no indications of where I will be travelling from etc.

What is really required for multi-part trips is the ability to define an empty trip, like a place holder, and then move actual trips into that place holder.

And in place of the copy feature what needs to happen is something along the lines of being able to specify trip participants, so rather than it making a copy of a the trip that isn't needed you can simply specify that you are going on that trip, and have it appear in your trip list.

In the case that someone does genuinely want to copy a trip from another user, then it should definitely preserve the multi-part elements if any of a trip.

Does this make sense to everyone, feedback is welcome of course.

When can I expect to see this rolled out :)

Just wait until space travel becomes mainstream & you'll have to design DOPPLR INTRGALACTK (BETA) - how do you calculate the impact of ion propulsion engines emitting ions that pollute the space vacuum? I guess the space-friendly way of traveling will be by solar sail...

"Other" might allow us to enter the carbon data from ESA's Ariane-5 Rocket that AMEE have... although not sure we have 'geo-stationary orbit' as a destination.

I second this request: just tried to add my London to Brighton cycling marathon but there is no cycling option. And having to put it under car/train/air looks really silly - I wish there was just an "other" option. I like to have correct data for my record as well - not just for the carbon calculation. But at least adding the carbon profile for the bike should be easy - it can simply be zero. Or do we need to count carbon needed to produce all the food and drink that will enable me to cycle such a distance? Now I'm confused!

That's great about the buses, maybe you can then have a "none of the above" option, for those of us who occassionally travel by cycling, walking, or....boats!

Thanks for the suggestion. We are definitely looking at adding bus transport to the choices. Ferry is less likely, partly because the data source we use for carbon usage doesn't include that.
