A comment on the problem "No SMS updates with VerizonWirelsss for a week!" in Twitter:
I'm not saying that my solution is the old one, but I'm an impatient person and after a week with no headway it was either do this or throw my phone in the trash and give up.
Are you sure that the folks on your list are sending tweets? I never even got a confirmation to my "on" commands (or any command for that matter) once my issue started. It was over a week with this issue before I changed my number; I was desperate and tired of waiting when I decided to try my own fix.
have you called Verizon Wireless and asked them to look into it? The more who call and bug them the more they'll realize there's a widespread problem. The issue is, they don't know what Twitter is (at least the people *I* spoke to); so they can't know there's a problem. – ladyrhi, on October 27, 2008 18:36

Actually, I did try using a different number with the old account and that different number receievd the incoming tweets and system responses. I didn't try the new number with old account, I just got so frustrated I decided to start over "from scratch".
I do believe that the issue was with my phone number; but to be honest, no one really seemed all that interested in follow up on either side beyond the "level 1" stage of troubleshooting. (I'm not casting blame, it's just not a high thing on anyone's priority list except mine); Each one kept telling me the issue was with the other guy. Over the weekend it occurred to me to just get a new number.

I finally got tired of waiting (It's been since the 17th); neither seemed all that interested in helping resolve my issue (it's the same as yours). So I called Verizon wireless, got a new phone number and created a new twitter account. I am back to working again and it only cost $15 for the number change.

I tried that yesterday (Deleting and re-verifying the phone).... I sent the code I was given in the verification, but never received a response. I called Verizon and they say the issue is Twitter's. (They had no idea what Twitter was) and they assured me they hadn't blocked it.. I also checked to make sure I hadn't inadvertently blocked Twitter's number, and it's not that. I also checked with another friend who has Verizon and he's receiving tweets; so it's not Verizon.

They didn't even know what Twitter was, so there's no block or anything on the phone. So they believe the issue is with Twitter.
I can receive messages via the website, but nothing's going to my phone. I checked and I'm apparently receiving other messages (non-tweets) from everyone; but no tweets. According to my twitter account, I should be receiving the messages to my phone; but I'm not. I have no way to block messages from Twitter (that I can find). My hubby also has a twitter account and he's on verizon wireless (through his work, so it's two separate accounts) and he's having the same issue
