A comment on the question "Can I control the message that my company shows to users in the sidebar callout box?" in Get Satisfaction:
Thanks, Fraser. Noted! I'll be sure the design team sees this. – Amy Muller, about 2 hours ago
A comment on the idea "Twitter/Facebook syncing should prepend " twittering: " or similar" in Twitter:
Indeed - and they should fix it, but I guess twitter's developers have a fair bit on their 'to do' list :). I have no problem with switching to a TP app, though - particularly one with far better functionality and which doesn't even ask for my twitter password. After all, Twitter's success has been in large part built on the openness of its API and the explosion of TP apps and add-ons. – jimjarmo, about 3 hours ago

For #1, it might be fine just to add "A company representative really likes this!" as an option in the status popup. – Fraser Speirs, about 3 hours ago
A comment on the idea "Twitter/Facebook syncing should prepend " twittering: " or similar" in Twitter:
I recognize that twittersync is *a* solution. This is still a defect in the official app, which I would prefer to use, and I thought I'd "cast a vote" as it were. Thanks though. – Tim (kumokasumi), about 3 hours ago
A comment on the idea "Twitter/Facebook syncing should prepend " twittering: " or similar" in Twitter:
Tim - as per the above posts, use the third-party twittersync application to update your facebook status rather than twitter's own offering. That gives you the option to prepend with a customisable string (like mrdctaylor, I'm using "[via twittersync]" to give them a bit of publicity) as well the option to filter certain tweets that you *don't* want to update your facebook status (e.g. @ messages). – jimjarmo, about 5 hours ago

Hi again. Regarding your request:
"2. The ability to have a block of "welcome" text on the company page. I'd like to be able to direct users to certain places (e.g. my FAQ tag page)."
I also wanted to add that in the meantime, you can use the Company Description and external links provided on your company home page for this purpose. You can edit those in your admin area. We've seen a lot of companies add "FAQ" as an URL and link it to a list of topics in their Get Satisfaction area that are filtered by the tag "FAQ".

I've tagged the two similar threads with "url shortening service" to make finding them easier in the future.

Opening the door to other URL shrinking ideas would be awesome. See the similar request here:

all good ideas! we're working a lot on company tools this summer, and while the final feature set isn't totally settled yet, we'll definitely get these on the list and see what we can do. also, as for #3: we have a new version of the company home page coming out in the next few weeks that will solve the problem, promise. – Lane Becker, about 9 hours ago

Thanks for the great suggestions, Fraser.
So for #1 you're requesting there be something more than the ability to set the status on the idea (eg: Right now, if a topic is posted as an "idea" company reps can select from a drop-down: "No plans for it", "We'll think about it", "We're working on it" or "We implemented it"). But an additional button or something that just lets the user know you think it's a great idea?
I think #2 is a great idea and I know something like this has been discussed in the past. I'll definitely bring this back up with the product design team.
I completely agree on #3. We may already have something in the works but, again, I'll check in with the product design team.
As a side note: If you posted each of these as a separate "Idea" topic we could set the status on each and you could more easily track their progress. :)
Keep the suggestions coming as they occur to you!

Thanks for the responses.
If you're working on company tools, I have a couple of other things that I would find useful:
1. The ability to 'bless' a user's idea as a post endorsed by the company. I recently had a user add a great writeup on using FlickrExport with GPS units (http://tinyurl.com/3m2cje) and I wanted to call it out as something I really liked. All I could do was comment and say "we implemented it", but I really wanted to be able to click something to say "Connected Flow likes this a lot".
2. The ability to have a block of "welcome" text on the company page. I'd like to be able to direct users to certain places (e.g. my FAQ tag page).
3. Finally, I think there should be some cutoff for the length of text that shows up in the lists of topics. One user recently posted an entire Mac crash log - hundreds of lines long - into a problem report (http://tinyurl.com/3hgxlf). I apprecated them doing so, since it helped to find the problem, but it realyl blows out any list of topics it appears in.
Eric Suesz replied about 21 hours ago to the problem "Services as well as products" in Get Satisfaction:
Good point, Tom. I often have a hard time with curating products and services on our site because the line does sometimes seem blurred or not as apparent to users. I'll see what we can do on the next updates to these pages and try to either fix the language or presentation when people are adding products and services. Love the feedback.

amycs replied 1 day ago to the discussion "Got my iPhone wet, and Apple replaced it with a new one..." in Apple:
My iPhone fell into a cup of water today, only the top half was submerged and I pulled it out immediately, but of course it had to be the headphone jack end. I dried it off and rushed it to the genius bar only to be told the water seal is broken and they can't do anything. The guy was a total jerk to me as I cried in the middle of the Apple store, all I wanted was my phone numbers! So now I'm trying to let it dry out in my car in the heat and I'm going to put it in a bag of uncooked rice tonight. Anymore suggestions for me? When it first happened it looked fine, then lost service. So I tried to turn it off and then the apple logo showed up and then it went dead. AHHHH this thing is like my child! My whole life is in that phone!

Leslie Chicoine replied 1 day ago to the question "widget codes are switched" in Get Satisfaction:
Now that you mention it, it does sound like the second option doesn't come with CSS (you'd have to be a css genius to add your own).
Let's change these titles. How about "Simple code (Just drop this into your site, it will adopt your site's styles and blend right in.)" and "Advanced code (Comes with customizable CSS styles.)"
