The tx1000 series of machines, with the AMD processor, all have an over heating problem. Any laptop that has a warning sticker in the top right corner over the processor warning of this fact suffers from a design problem in my opinion. Hint don't put it on your laptop for any period of time. I used my tx1000 as a traveling machine for work. I thought it would be good to take with me to do correspondence, simple powerpoint presentations, and watch a movie while I was waiting for a delayed flight.

My tx1000 packed it in at the end of September. The HP repair center I took it to did a full diagnostic of the machine. They eliminated the AMD chip as a problem (the source of most of the heat) and stated that the mother board had to be replaced. They had four hp laptops sharing the same motherboard Part number 441097-001 and processor type currently in the shop with the same problem.

If you have this machine I would eliminate all of the bloatware to reduce the demands upon the machine. If you have eliminated the possibility of virus problems (kapersky online scan is a good tool), get yourself a cooling pad with a fan and an external back-up drive.

This was the first laptop that I have ever owned, I have owned 8, that gave-up on its own. This was also the first and last hp.

    Good luck

PS. I bought a XPS 1330 as a replacement machine.
