"Access denied because this scene is for Adult Users"
What is this??? It may be a limitation imposed on my end, with my shared connection, but I have never seen it before and don't understand how exactly Vivaty would define an "adult scene." The message was generated by Vivaty.

    Lara
Argh, I was afraid of that. As I mentioned, one can't upload one's iTunes list, and the Internet sites with free music I've found to be poor quality and unreliable. Guess I'll stick to music videos on my Vivaty big-screen TV.

The websites that have MP3s available to put in my Vivaty scene iPod player are terrible. Songs stop working, or they're removed, or the selection is lousy (there's a reason they're free), or it takes forever to download and quits on you.

Okay, I get that iTunes wouldn't do backflips of joy if I were able to use my iTunes music list for my Vivaty iPod, but is there some better option than online sites offering free MP3s?

Okay, for any other users: When someone visits your scene, ignore the chat button and chat bubble and whatnot. To chat, you must right-click on the person and choose "chat." That's the only thing I've found that works to talk to people in my scene.

Have to agree with Christopher. Not at all easy for newcomers to chat. For one thing, Help says the chat button is on the lower-right of the screen. It isn't. It's on the lower left.

For another, when I click it and get the translucent chat bubble over my scene, I can type to my heart's content but nothing will ever show up in the chat window. People come to visit my new scene and wander around for a while, stare at me, then leave, surely wondering why I'm not talking to them!

This is frustrating! It happens every single time I get into Vivaty. I haven't been able to even say hello to a single visitor to my scene. What's happening?

Why won't "Add Item" add items to the wall?
I've messed with my scene some already and it has worked fine. (BTW, glad to be back. Lost Vivaty for a while pre-FF. So glad to get it back!)

But any items I try to put on the wall, like the Marseilles clock or the candle sconce, I click on the wall and nothing happens. I've even tried clicking on the floor, but no go. I click the plus sign, I click the item I want on the wall, I position the plus sign cursor on the wall, and I click. Nothing happens. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

the maintenance message was a facebook message, not a vivaty message. and it turned out to be a "facebook doesn't know what to do" message because I tried again in a couple minutes and got through to my facebook account fine. I'll try again monday. thanks.

hi heidi! a month plus after your response, i finally have a chance to breathe and re-set vivaty. I uninstalled completely. can't get into vivaty in IE, of course, because i'm in IE8. tried firefox, but it restarted.

i had to sign back into facebook to get back in with vivaty, but it told me my account was "down for maintenance" and to try again in a few hours. this is a pain -- vivaty is such fun. hope it all works out.

now that it's all uninstalled, i guess i'll keep trying in firefox, see if i can get it to work. i love the new look of that first screen, before i launch vivaty.

Vivaty now won't open in either IE or Firefox
V used to work in IE7. When the new Firefox compatibility was announced I went in and tried opening V in both IE and in Firefox.

1--Found that IE8, which I now have, is not yet supported. 2--I used to be able to open V in Firefox by switching rendering engines. Now I can't open it at all. It tells me it can't hook me up to V's servers and to check my network and firewall configs, which haven't changed.

Should I re-download V and try again in Firefox? Will it keep my scene if I do?

    Lara
    Thanks Heidi!

I followed the directions to Home and Applications, but on my page it only shows the two most recently used apps there. To access all apps, I had to click on "Edit All Applications."

This is not much of an improvement over remembering to click "Boxes" and look at my apps there...I was hoping the new Facebook would give me control over what to view on my profile so I could put Vivaty up top and have immediate access.

Well. They stuck my list of Causes back in one of those tabs too, and Facebook features one Cause each day that Facebook chooses, not me. And there doesn't seem to be any way to change their featured Cause to the one you want.

So Vivaty's dilemma is par for the course. This new Facebook was supposed to be an improvement, but as far as I can see, it doesn't give the user any more control than before (which is the holy grail of users) and in fact I've lost some choices I had before.

C'est la vie. Companies like Vivaty will soon eat up behemoths like Facebook from within, because Facebook isn't very responsive anymore. Well thanks for letting me vent a bit. You guys are doing great and I just want to see you front and center in Facebook!

    Make Vivaty Widgetbox-compatible!
As Vivaty grows, you'll have more and more people like me--non-developers who know just enough to be dangerous. (Insert evil laugh.) Somebody like me uses Widgetbox to create tools, feeds, blidgets, etc., for all kinds of uses.

Like Vivaty, Widgetbox is a fast-growing, relatively new company with an outstanding business concept that's picking up speed and that's going to turn into something big. So help us out, those of us who don't program. (Yet. My first class starts next month.)

Make it so Widgetbox widgets work within Vivaty. Capitalize on that capability by cross-promoting with them, and you're likely to see a significant jump in users coming over from Widgetbox.

Give Vivaty "+ Add New Tab" capability in Facebook
In the new Facebook, Vivaty doesn't show up anywhere on the home profile page. You have to know to click on the "Boxes" tab to find it. This is just not cool.

I'd like to see Vivaty enabled to be on the "+ Add a Tab" list in the new Facebook. That way, at least you're visible on a tab on the main profile page. Plus, it's just a lot easier to go there more often if it's not hidden away.
