Ryan - Yes, I'd like to be able to annotate (either publicly or privately) little things that matter to me and might matter to others. I don't know about just arbitrarily being allowed to push pins in the map - a la "Blackberry Bush" - I think it should still be Place-specific. Hence my concerns - between the tagging functions and the shouts themselves - about redundancy. But, could be cool. – J-P Voillequé, on October 06, 2008 22:12 -

Thumbtacks - enduring annotation of locations beyond shout history?Would there be a way to stick a thumbtack in the map that designates something like "wifi down!" I just was at Sydney's and, while I tweeted that their router was having issues, I think some sort of timed notation to a map location could be useful? You could add some sort of "confirm/deny that [x thumbtack issue] still exists" feature the next time someone shouted from that location?
Could also be useful for folks wanting to share a distinctive feature, like that the Art Museum has Klaus Moje glass on display, or something? Or is it all dumb? There's a certain redundancy with the shout history, but I sometimes just do the map view for fun, and having thumbtacks with interesting tidbits could be interesting. You could color code and allow filtering by color, so that random "I threw up here one time after an Old 97's show" could be ignored....

Import buddies?Hiya - is there a way to pull buddies from, say, email or FB, and not merely twitter? I like how FriendFeed will pull from networks to identify people I "ought" to be following on FF as well as everywhere else. Ubiquitous stalking plz. ;)
