A comment on the question "Metallica tracks slowly get out of sync as song progresses?" in Tapulous:

Thought I was going crazy too...that makes me feel better. BPM is either off by a couple points throughout, or they missed a couple changes. I know it's tough to get BPM matched up when it changes throughout the song, but...

I know I'm super-sensitive to song sync and some people aren't affected at all. Playing a friend in StepMania, I would complain my head off but he wouldn't so much as notice when things were out of sync. But in the end, the Perfect vs Great ratio told the whole story. Finish a Metallica song, click on high scores and next list to get to the global high score list. Top Ten in the World are shown, but then I see the line at the bottom says rank 0 and a score of 0...

Is this just a visual bug and it's recording properly (as there are some scores in there that are being properly recorded), or is this a problem with my connection/installation??

I just got finished playing One on hard (a 7:13 song) and noticed as the song went on, the track got more and more out of sync with the music as it went on. At the end it felt like it was off by about an 8th (from where I thought it should naturally fall at least)? Anyone else noticing this?

Every year (I think) Tapulous has a Tap Tap Idol. Bands who aren't famous yet submit their songs to Tapulous, and through voting (some by Tapulous and some by the players), songs are eliminated until there are very few left. Last year, Tapulous put 3 songs from Tap Tap Idol on TTR2. Wait for TTIdol to come around and submit your song then.

I disagree, it would just be more work for Tapulous making the tracks for no real benefit. We players should adapt to the game, not the other way around.

A couple things to try (in this order):

1) Restart the device - Most apps that crash on start are getting out of memory errors from the kernel. It is possible another app you were running has a memory leak and is causing issues. Restarting the device will restore the memory to an available state and ensure this is not your problem.

2) Uninstall and reinstall TTR3 - Perhaps it didn't install correctly? Note that you will not be charged twice; if you click to "purchase" it again, you will get a dialog saying you have already purchased it and can download it again for free.

3) Check your free space and make sure there is at least a couple hundred MB free - I've seen things severely slow down and run into problems when there was minimal free space on the device. Understandable, depending on how the OS manages swap space (not sure about this). Anyway, it's worth a try. If you haven't synced in a while it's also possible crash dumps are taking some space. Try syncing first and see if you get space back before bothering to delete stuff.

4) Backup and restore your device - Maybe something got screwy on the OS level. Unlikely but possible. Anyway, this will restore the OS files and let you "try again" without losing your data.

5) Factory restore - If the above doesn't work, maybe something you did or installed has screwed your device completely. Try doing a factory reset and then reinstall and run TTR3. If it works, you can start reloading your other apps and data on and make sure it still works with each thing you do. If it stops working, you might have found the culprit.

6) Take it in to Apple - Last resort, but if nothing above works, something is strange. TTR3 will work on devices with firmware 3.0 or above with any version 3 OS (tested thru 3.1.2 I believe). Worst case, they'll give you a replacement device.

Is auto-submit actually working?

I thought I read that in TTR3, your scores should be automatically submit to the server instead of having to click the leaderboard all the time, like in TTR2. I'm not convinced this is actually true.

I just played a track twice. The first time not opening the high scores, the second time doing so. The high scores only show the second score (the time I opened the leaderboards) but not the first. (Note that coins and XP are being added correctly, however.) Can someone confirm this?

Love the new tune and tap track

Just had to mention I found the new track "Fireflies" in the store and was very happy. I especially love the extreme tap track. It's the kind of stuff that's really fun to play!

Just wish it didn't drop taps so much on my iPhone 3G...but I assume it'll be fixed in the next update...right?
