Spam folder is not the cause in my case. Never mind the fact that my spam filter only marks messages as spam in the inbox and doesn't move them anywhere, the address I use is unique and private. E-mail notifications are inconsistent for me. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. Just this afternoon, I received a notification. I then went to look at my latest followers and there were half a dozen there I didn't recognize and had received no e-mails notifying me of them.

In the states, SMS incoming delivery is fine (I'm on AT&T/iPhone). But outgoing messages through SMS don't show up on the timeline until 3-5 HOURS after being sent.

There's already a mechanism in place where you start following someone to optionally choose whether that person's tweets are sent to your SMS device. There could be another option right there to choose whether to receive their @ replies as well.

If someone wants to look at the crash log for FluidApp, I can send it. Wade, interested? Just now, it happened after I returned from lunch: about 45 minutes of non-use and less than 40 updates awaiting.

Also, this is on a quad 2.5ghz G5 at work, where I sometimes have to go a while before I can check updates. I don't remember it happening on my MacBook Pro, but with the laptop, I don't really ever go that long without checking. – Lee Bennett, on September 25, 2008 01:10

Crash when large number of updates await retrieval

I realize this may be an issue with Fluid.app and not SocialThing, or maybe just with WebKit. I made a Site Specific Browser (SSB) using Fluid to contain my SocialThing stream. I can almost reliably predict if I ever ignore it for a little while and come back to more than, say, 100+ items waiting for refresh, the SSB will very often crash and have to be restarted. Memory leak?

Yes, I'm aware of that, but that's two taps. Since there's empty space in the header/logo bar, why not have a refresh button there for so a refresh only requires a single tap? – Lee Bennett, on September 24, 2008 21:32

Mobile SocialThing doesn't update for hours

The mobile version of SocialThing initially worked great for me, but soon after I started, I began to notice that hours would sometimes pass before new items were updated into the lifestream, even though the desktop web app was up to date. Repeated browser refreshes do no good. Sometimes (but not always) I can coerce it into updating by switching to the standard desktop web app, refreshing a time or two, coming back to the mobile version, and refreshing again a time or two.

The character count in the standard status update window works fine, but not when using the reply link. It starts off with however many characters is taken by the @ username, but doesn't increase after that.

Mobile SocialThing refresh button

I've seen messages asking for auto refresh on the standard SocialThing page (not something I need, but good idea to have optionally). But the mobile/iPhone app is a bit different. Auto refresh wouldn't be of much benefit to that, but what *would* be nice is a manual refresh button on the header bar, opposite the status update button. This would avoid having to swipe the screen upward to access Mobile Safari's standard full-page refresh button.
