klint's reply to "how can you remove orphans from songbird?" was just promoted to the most useful! Leftie and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
Leftie replied on April 27, 2009 19:20 to the problem "MyPodder incompatible with Ubuntu 8.10 and java 1.6.0_0?" in Podcastready:
I can't believe I didn't notice this difference earlier:
I'm running 64bit Ubuntu (and therefore 64bit Java), and as far as I can see, Kennedy808 is running 32bit.
Therefore I'm forced to believe that my problem stems from the fact that I'm using 64bit Java, and that mypodder is not compatible with this.
Could a company representative please confirm or deny my suspicion?-

Leftie replied on March 14, 2009 15:28 to the problem "7digital add-on is not find musics that I want" in Songbird:
Hi Erik!
The reason is (partly) explained in the 7digital Songbird addon's help-page: http://us.7digital.com/songbird/help#...
"Songbird only shows tracks in high quality MP3. If you have tried our search engine on the site and you cannot find the download you are looking for, then we don't have it in MP3 format, but 7Digital's main site may have it in DRMed WMA format. You can visit this site at www.7digital.com. If the track is not there, then we don't have it yet. Please keep checking back as new content is added to our site on a daily basis."
However, i say "partly" because this cannot possibly be the whole truth.
You see, I did a search for the band "Tindersticks", looking for their song "Boobar Come Back to me"
The Songbird addon finds 2 albums + 1 single by this artist, so the artist is obviously selling music through the Songbird addon. These albums do not contain the song I want, though, so I searched the 7digital site as well.
The 7digital site has the single I'm looking for: http://www.7digital.com/artists/tinde..., and it's in 320kbps MP3 format, so it should obviously be covered by Songbirds definition "high quality MP3".
What I figure is; either there is some problem with the Songbird addon search, or there is a filter in effect, that we have not been informed about.-

A comment on the problem "MyPodder incompatible with Ubuntu 8.10 and java 1.6.0_0?" in Podcastready:
I'd still like to hear back from you, Kennedy808.
I tried to use SUN Java instead of IcedTea, but I got the exact same result.
My current output from "java -version":
java version "1.6.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-b33)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode)
I have to admit, I'm at a loss as to what to try next. – Leftie, on March 09, 2009 14:18

That would be great. I suspect switching to SUNs Java may be the solution, but I'd rather get a confirmation before going through that ordeal. – Leftie, on February 27, 2009 18:09
Leftie reported a problem in Podcastready on February 24, 2009 18:42:
MyPodder incompatible with Ubuntu 8.10 and java 1.6.0_0?I am running Ubuntu 8.10, and using a Cowon D2.
Running the ./start_linux.sh, only results in the following message (both in the terminal and as a pop-up window):
"IMPORTANT: Sorry. Your Linux configuration is not supported by myPodder yet.
Please help us to improve our application and write a short report to support@podcastready.com. THX."
I went looking for a solution myself, and thus I ended up posting here instead of sending an email. (I hope that's OK.)
If I understand the application correctly, it should be almost completely self-contained and only depend on a Java RE being installed. Here's my output from "java -version":
java version "1.6.0_0"
IcedTea6 1.3.1 (6b12-0ubuntu6.1) Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b12)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_0-b12, mixed mode)
Any tips as to what is wrong, or how I can troubleshoot further, is highly appreciated.
Leftie replied on January 06, 2009 14:07 to the question "How to make Songbird capture multimedia keys" in Songbird:
I managed to make a perfect workaround for this problem!
Whether this will work for other people, is dependent on what type of keyboard and keyboard software you are using. I have a Microsoft keyboard with multimedia keys, and use Microsoft Intellitype Pro as the configuration software.
After having set the Songbird Global Hotkey for the 'Playback: Play/pause' function to "Win + <", I went into Intellitype Pro and configured the multimedia-key "Play/Pause" to run a macro. The macro is simply the keypress "Win + <".
Works like a charm :)
Leftie replied on January 06, 2009 13:53 to the question "How to make Songbird capture multimedia keys" in Songbird:
Okay, thanks!
I just figured since the default value of the global hotkey "Playback: Play/Pause" was "PLAYPAUSE" (the multimedia-key), that it would work the way I imagined.
I tried using the Win key to bind together with the multimedia-key, but that doesn't work either. (Windows Media Player just pops up in the background.)
Instead, I've made a simple key-combo (Win+<) to play/pause Songbird now, and it works perfectly well.
Thanks again for the info :)

Leftie asked a question in Songbird on January 03, 2009 12:48:
How to make Songbird capture multimedia keysHow do I let Songbird capture multimedia keys (like Play/Pause) and prevent WMP from starting instead? I have checked the "Global Hotkeys" option, but whenever I press the Play/Pause button on my keyboard, Windows Media Player launches, even if Songbird is running and its window is active.
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, and have disabled access to both WMP and Windows Media Center in the "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" dialogue, to no avail. I realize that this may not be a Songbird issue per se, but any help would be greatly appreciated :)-
