I think Evernote for the iPhone is a fantastic program, but for many, like me the inability to consult ones notes when the Internet is not available would be a killer. All that would be required to solve this would be to provide the iPhone/touch app with a setting to synch on demand like the Mac program.
I think, too, that many people would feel more comfortable committing to the system if they were able to back up their Evernote notebooks to their Mac/PC, and read these back-ups into the Mac/PC Evernote programs. Surely this would not be too difficult to provide-

Absolutely.
My thinking is that Placemarks and Places Visited are my two most active areas, in that order. I don't travel around enough to constantly use search; My heavy traffic is covered by the former, and those occasional but recurring visits are covered by the latter.
Since Placemarks actually are Places Visited, I'd assume that "times visited" would be the best scenario. They are two totally different things, though; good luck with the brainstorming! :)

Give us one way to find places!Placemarks are sorted alphabetically. Places visited are sorted by the number of times visited. Both are good and valid methods of organizations, but can we have just one?
This is a problem on the web also, but it is particularly acute on the iPhone...
Bryan Collick asked a question in Evernote on July 29, 2008 01:14:
Saving data to iPhoneDoes evernote for iphone allow for local storage of data? This is the dealmaker for the other clients; the fact that I can access my items when offline. If I wanted to review a list of names while on a flight or wanted to read from a pre-written statement in a place with low/no signal, it only makes sense to have this available.
There's obviously an issue with data charges, so perhaps this should be off by default but able to be changed.

The drag and drop works, but Skitch is already set up to send to other web applications that could use similar methods: drag to flickr uploadr, for example.
My reasoning is probably just a preference, but in general, clicking a button beats drag'n'drop every time. Also by uploading to web first, character recognition is performed before it hits the client side. Small but noteworthy difference.

A comment on the discussion "Marking Temporary locations" in Brightkite:
We don't really allow open visits to BKHQ unless there is a specific reason, however we may be up for meeting somewhere in Denver time permitting.
Placemarks we are working on the proper way to implement Public Placemarks. Its possible that they may have a time component.
You will be able to refine by placemark. If there are 2 placemarks in the same building you will be able to choose to only see content from that placemark.
...but remember the whole point of Brightkite is to meet people around you. The overlap with the event next door may result in some serendipitous encounters :) – Brady, on June 16, 2008 20:56
