Please try the new 1.0.0 Final build which will be announced later today. We now use gstreamer for playback for all OSs. Suggest a clean install and a new import of your iTunes Library. These problems should go away for you. If you still have a problem, please enter bugs for individual issues at: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/

Are you using mp3 files? Are the file name characters in all of your file names "regular english" letters & numbers or foreign characters?

Go to the File menu and select Language. You will see six versions of French to choose from there. Choose one, select OK to Install, then Restart now and là vous allez !

1) which version of Vista specifically are you using?
2) Is it installed native or VM?
3) Was this a first time/clean install or did you upgrade? From which version did you upgrade?
4) What were you doing when the applications froze? Exact steps please.

Note - there is a default Bookmark in the Songbird install called "Songbird Addons" which takes you to http://addons.songbirdnest.com/. You can install all of the latest for the first run bundle from that site location.
