Hi John,
Yup it's still a problem. It looks like yes YouVersion does fail to an offline version if there is no data connection at all. But, if there is a service connection, but data isn't available on it at the moment, or the application can't connect to the server, it displays that error and doesn't fail to an offline translation.

Once you have loaded the App, click the blue arrow that is to the right of the name of the current translation.

I think the iPhone Bible App icon is very appropriate. By having a generic Bible icon, and by calling it a generic name like "Bible" as opposed as labelling it You Version (with the icon or the name), it gives the application a generality that really should exist with the Bible.
I want a Bible on my iPhone. I don't want a "YouVersion" or a "SomethingElse" no matter how cool they are.
The Bible doesn't need to be labelled something other than just that. The Bible. And I applaud YouVersion for seeing that, and using a generic icon, and a generic name. Good work guys :). -

No connectivity results in unusable app, even if you have offline translations.If the previously used Bible Translation is an online translation, opening YouVersion without network connectivity, results in the application stalling and getting stuck trying to connect indefinitely.
Upon loading and having no luck connecting, it first displays an error box:
Then after clicking OK on the error box, it then continues to sit there spinning the little wheel in the top right next to the translation name:
Can I suggest that if connectivity cannot be established, that YouVersion fallback to an offline translation if one has been downloaded. This could be the last used offline translation, or a configurable 'default fallback' translation.
