A comment on the problem "My PMD has stoped working after 1.5 year" in Tonium :
Care to comment on what happened Regis? Did throwing your toys out the pram in public get you a repair / replacement, or have they put a gag order on you ;-) – f4780y, on September 28, 2009 20:28

And worth noting that you also have to re-load the track onto the PMD once you have done this so that the new cue point is saved on the device... – f4780y, on September 18, 2009 09:41

Hi Regis, I’ve been totally disillusioned by this place, hence lack of any posts for a long while, but had to “come out of retirement” when I read your post. Sorry to hear your PMD has died. I am assuming you are a heavy user of the device, but that is no excuse for the failure. Unfortunately, being out of the warranty period, I’ll bet there is nothing our friends can do. In fact, I am expecting the message to come back “Sorry friend, you warranty is out of date, please purchase a new Pacemaker” ;-)
My only pearl of wisdom for you would be, don’t rush to re-format the device. Static and crackling should be absolutely nothing to do with the data on the hard disk, and a re-format will almost certainly not resolve it. It is much more likely to be a general electronics problem with the main board. I hope you get the problem sorted one way or another and look forward to your continuing mixes on the main site... Cheers, Fatboy.

Hi Pete - Being that there is an effects "engine" there should be no problem provided the effects are achievable within the bounds of the device hardware. The community is farily vocal about a flanger being the next one for Tonium to deliver.
Would be good to understand what you mean by the names though. i.e. full explaination of the effect for each one...

Sounds like it is going into charge mode. This is what the pacemaker does...
Once you connect and power on, it will show the logo, then enter charge mode. Press the "on" button AGAIN and it will show the logo and start up fully... THIS CONFUSES A LOT OF USERS THE FIRST TIME!
Basically, you need to turn it on "twice" if you are connected by USB!
Hope that helps...

f4780y replied on July 05, 2009 19:27 to the idea "Unplug causes auto pause, power off?" in Tonium :
I like the suggestion Daniel, and it would be very similar to the good ol iPod, but it is a "no no" for me, and it could really hurt things!
IF I was to make this terrible mistake mid-set it would be hellish if I had to boot from "power off" and get things going from scratch again...
I suspect that the current "carry on regarless" setting is probably safest for "live" Pacemaker use. You will get such a shock if you pull the plug, that all you want to happen is to get the plug back in and keep the party moving... If you then had to think about how to "un pause", with the risk that you might also be on the wrong deck and completely wreck the set, there would be yet another possible point of failure...
Too risky for me... although I have never actually pulled the line-out out mid set...
f4780y replied on July 03, 2009 18:15 to the question "Quick charger specs?" in Tonium :
As a funny aside, has anyone actually looked at the offical charger packaging???
Inside each flap of the box (4 in total) there is a crazy "inspirational" message as follows...
"You will bring sunshine into someones life"
"Your heart will always make itself known through your music"
"Your move will music the world" (SURELY THE WRONG WAY ROUND?)
AND MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE....
" You may attend a party where strange accustoms prevail"
MENTAL - They are like crazy Tonium LOLSpeak quotes. Classic. What were they smoking, and can I have some please?

Let us know how you get on with them tony...
I guess my expectations were way too high, but I didnt get anything from them at all (but I have been using the device for a while)..
Hey, at least I know how to sort tracks in the editor now! ;-) – f4780y, on July 03, 2009 18:09

Are you downloading the right thing regis? The EXE installer download is clearly marked on the top of thier page as "This is what most people will want to download" - It is not a zip or rar file... If you are not familiar on how to use programs that are zipped / rared, then you should probably not be using a version without an installer etc...
A comment on the problem "canada eh" in Tonium :
Mechanical failure is quite unusual for a drive, but that's what it sounds like... I would re-flash the firmware if that is possible, just in case there is a problem there, but otherwise it sounds like a trip back to Tonium or a DIY drive replacement if you are feeling brave ;-) – f4780y, on July 02, 2009 08:05
