Lemony reported a problem in Netflix on February 02, 2009 05:07:
Americentrism excludes gift subscription purchaseCannot buy a gift subscription without a credit card or debit card issued by an American bank. I know Netflix is not available outside the US but I tried to buy a gift for someone who does live in the US. Since when are credit cards restricted to one country? This Netflix policy makes zero sense. I also asked if I could use my PayPal account and was again told no by a customer service rep. In the end, I was not able to purchase the gift at all. FAIL.

Lemony replied on January 06, 2009 21:16 to the problem "Qik, I can't afford to pay my phone bill because of you" in Qik:
Okay, I took your advice and got a monthly data plan. It's not unlimited but is 5 mb/month for $10, better than nothing. (After 5 mb they go back to gouging.)
The $70 charge was for 1387 kb. Kb, not mb.
My phone is a Nokia. The video quality was probably too high so I just now changed it to the lowest setting.
The Sprint/Verison plan sounds appealing, but I'm not American and don't have a billing address there. Too bad, because I am aware that Canadian cell companies are bloodsuckers (I went through a similar situation with texting, years ago), but we don't have a choice up here. They're all just as bad.
Unless Qik could recommend one I don't know about? Or makes a partner deal? I'd gladly switch providers.
Lemony gave praise in Vancity on January 04, 2009 12:19:
VanCity's community tiesCommunity oriented, VanCity has always been involved in local events and issues. They awarded us a grant to start a community garden. Credit unions FTW, also.

Qik, I can't afford to pay my phone bill because of youWhy are the data usage fees due to Qik so insanely high? I downloaded Qik software to my Nokia, then streamed video for 17 seconds. I was billed $70.00 (!) just for that. I know my evil Canadian mobile provider Fido was the company who gouged me, but could Qik do something about data compression to avoid huge bills? Otherwise it's really not useful, and I love Qik bunches and bunches and really want to keep using it. Thanks!
Lemony asked a question in Annie's Naturals on January 04, 2009 11:33:
Why won't Annie's think outside the bottle to fix their mistake?I bought salad dressing that had turned bad before I opened it (before expiry). I wrote to customer service and was told to take it back to the store for a refund. The store is 1500 km away, I bought it on vacation, so I can't. Customer rep said she wouldn't do anything else as Annie's won't ship to Canada (which is stupid, but that's another complaint). So no replacement, not even a coupon. Would a coupon have been so hard? Or another product maybe? I felt customer service really didn't care and did not/would not do anything at all to rectify the situation. It's a $3 salad dressing so this situation is kind of petty I know, but it's the principle. Bad, unresponsive customer relations make me grumpy. (That snowballs worse than they might imagine, as I've shared my experience with social media.)
