We have been getting calls from odd area codes - we don't answer but when we try to call back, we get the message that it's not a valid number. Once it was from 1234567891, which is obviously a false numer. Otherwise it's been from 802 or 251, or 208 area codes. I'm worried its something malicious, too.

Lethean replied on July 02, 2008 18:53 to the question "How does Chumby wake me up?" in Chumby:
The Chumby doesn't connect through your computer at all—it uses your wireless internet connection, so it doesn't matter if your computer is on or off. It must be powered on in order for the alarm to work; however, it does include a "night mode" that produces very little visible light, so it shouldn't be a distraction if you're trying to sleep.
The content on your Chumby is delivered from the Chumby website—you can customize it using your account online.

Lethean replied on July 01, 2008 17:09 to the question "AT&T High Speed internet" in AT&T:
I've been quite happy with my AT&T DSL (which I've transitioned to AT&T Uverse with the same quality of service). Setup was a pain in the neck compared to Brighthouse (my former cable internet provider) and the transfer rate is slower in general. However, when the neighborhood kiddies hopped on the internet after school with cable, everything slowed down. In contrast, my connection speed with AT&T has been quite consistent.
I've never really had outage problems with either one.
On the other hand, I've found AT&T's customer service to be only slightly better than Ameritech/SBC's (whom they purchased)--that is, one step short of abysmal. The reps are nice but have no real power to get you what you need.
That said, given the choice, I'd still stick with AT&T for internet.
