Hi Popeye - I understand your frustration, and as you know, your email has been received but I hope you can wait until Monday office hours when I can get one of our engineers to take a look. – Marije, on August 31, 2008 12:43

The html widget is fixed. There may be a problem with the code that you are trying to install. – Ruth, on August 31, 2008 07:22

Not sure if your html editor is "fixed". I have a simple script that i edited in my desktop html editor as a text with bgsound and without using body tags and it worked just fine. But when i insert it into your html editor widget i get an error message saying the code is wrong and of course it doesn't work??? I've already emailed the script to support and waiting for response. – popeye, on August 31, 2008 01:53

Thank you for your reply. I'm new to much of this, but my son who is very savvy in the ways of computers and internet is looking out for me and trying to make sure I get the best possible site I can. That being said I can't complain much because this is a free service and costs me only my time and electricity. I am still quite impressed with the response times to questions. – Thrundar, on August 25, 2008 23:51

Hey there :)
I don't think you have anything to be alarmed about. These html validation errors have little or no practical impact to how browsers render your site or how search engines index your content.
Due to the nature of SynthaSite it's quite difficult and time intensive to ensure complete HTML/CSS compliance. Traditionally we've focused more on features and work-flow than generated code quality because we felt most users weren't aware of HTML validation and would prefer more features and better work-flow to higher quality generated code and less features / worse work-flow.
That said, as former standards compliant web developers ourselves, we understand the goals of standards compliance. We get big smiles on our faces when everything validates correctly and will be placing an emphasis on fixing as many of these issues as we can in the future.
A comment on the idea "Meta Tag Descriptions" in SynthaSite:
To add tags or keywords to your site, this is how:
1. When you are editing a page of your site, click on 'Properties' on the right-hand sidebar of your page - add words under the 'keywords' label of the toolbar
2. When you publish your site, you are given the option of adding keywords to your site so that it's easier for search engines to find your site
3. You can also add Google webmaster code to your site - we have an answer on our forum that gives more information: Adding Google Webmaster – kershnee, on July 29, 2008 11:50

Hi Brenda..et al,
I use Flickr to upload my pictures...it is free unless you would like to pay for Pro acct. Once the picture is uploaded I edit or just go straight to 'all sizes' tab, from there you can use the suggested size and HTML code (which links back to your photostream) or grab the photos URL, insert with an HTML widget (this option requires that you know a little HTML to adjust width, height, centering, etc). Here are a couple of links that you may find helpful...besides the tutorial already mentioned...- http://www.tizag.com/htmlT/images.php
- http://www.tizag.com/cssT/float.php
- www.flickr.com, create a Yahoo acct and you are good to go
- Other places to upload your pics are http://www.kodakgallery.com/Welcome.jsp and www.photobucket.com...just to name a few.

Munish,
I'm sorry you are still having this problem. I haven't seen an email from you in support. I'm not entirely sure that you have followed Pete's instructions exactly. They should fix the problem. Would you mind reading them carefully and doing what he advises. Take the text widget with the HTML off your page and then drag and drop a HTML widget onto your page. Insert your code into that. Make sure you delete the default HTML first.
If that doesn't work then please email support and we will do our best to help you.

I have already written to support@synthasite.com about this problem but nothing has improved.
Atleast one week has gone but still my site menu is not working.

Hi cjsluna
Here is another thread in this forum you might want to look at: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
It has some further suggestions that might work for you.
Best wishes

Hey there
I don't think there is a way to completely restrict people from copying images on your website. There are always ways to do it. I'm not sure what the best way to protect your images is, but I would look into watermarking them.
It is possible to stop people viewing your pages from right clicking on images in your site and saving from the right click menu.
I don't really recommend doing this, as it might cause problems for you during editing in SynthaSite (the limited testing and it looked ok though).
You want to drop a new HTML widget in your page and paste this code inside.

Pete here... confirmed the bug.
When you paste flash embed code into a text widget (in html view) we're inserting some code that we shouldn't be. Our bad :(
Happy news though! There's a simple workaround to the problem. If you use the HTML widget to insert this flash code instead, it should work without any issues.
Thanks for using SynthaSite :) We've logged the bug and are working on fixing it.

Hey There
We are planning on opening up widgets and styles for development. Widgets can be written in PHP, but we're haven't considered allowing widgets to create their own databases. We may decide to do this in the future, but I can't promise anything.
Once we expose widgets for development a great way to do what you're trying would be to write the logic for your widget using something like Google App Engine, expose the logic through XML/ JSON APIs and use those in your widget.
Thanks for using SynthaSite :)
