I use this laptop backpack to take my 15" Toshiba to work and back. They have lots of great choices and are extremely durable. I've had mine for 4 years, looks like the day I bought it.

Thanks Lindsay,
I will call customer service later today--emailing has not provided me much satisfaction, I think a conversation would work better.

The Hacker is not discontinued and I have one and love it. It will fit a couple textbooks (within reason.... I've been out of college for 15 years so not sure how big textbooks are these days) and binders no problem. I like it because it actually doesn't have the velcro (silence is golden) and it has a waterproof flap that covers the laptop insert zipper. And I like the convertible option (single or double strap).

Hey Megan,
Are you returning the bag to us on warranty? Or to the store? I'm not sure I understand what's going on.
I think your best bet is to shoot customerservice@timbuk2.com an e-mail to get this figured out.
Let me know if there's anythings else I can do, as an e-mail is sent directly to my inbox when you respond to this post.

Right now I'm in the middle of returning my commute daypack because the laptop compartment ripped. That said, I loved it when I had it, and Timbuk2 does follow through on their guarantee, as far as I can tell. The commute has this cool handle in the middle of the back panel that turns out to be really really useful. It's really comfortable, but I'm not sure shoes would fit well--I had to make some downward adjustments to the amount of crap I carry when I switched to that from a larger backpack. If you can, go to a store that sells both and try them on.

Hi Lindsay,
Thanks for the information. I'm trying not to be too frustrated here, but had I known then what I know now I would have tried to mail my bag back to the store where I got it to get the $$ refunded to my credit card and a whole different bag. I spent so much money because I thought it would last forever and I thought it was a really attractive bag but now I'm stuck with either black (which I do not like) or a pack that I can't even see in person (although I love the idea of choosing my own colors). Do you see any other way around this? If I can get the store to agree to refund me the purchase price, would you be able to ship it back to me, or to them (Fontana Sports in Madison, WI)?
I typically use my backpack every single day and right now I'm down to using one of my gross canvas grocery bags. I really want to get this resolved.
Thank you,

Sorry to double post, but Kittery Trading Post says that the Hacker bag is discontinued, is this true, or is this just an older model?

I'm 5'2 so I have the same problem with giant backpacks.
The Commute Daypack has more compartments and is more like your traditional backpack....but the Hacker comes in more colors and is a little simpler. The straps for the flap are adjustable and there's a spot for your laptop by your back.
Plus, the Hacker is a little smaller.

Hi Megan!
Our colors change about every 3 months. We just changed everything up July 1st.
We also have a Hemp bag in Grey/Black for the Commute Daypack, if you'd like to throw a little grey in (I know, it's not that exciting, but the hemp fabric is!).
The Lex is neat since it's customizable, so you would have a lot more choices than black and grey.

I picked up a commute on amazon for a great price. - http://tinyurl.com/5mayhj - haven't used it on the bike yet, but I'm sure it'll work out great.

We don't usually do repairs, but it might qualify as a warranty.
