Ok, so I checked my version and I was using build 629. I updated to build 631 from the website http://moneydance.com/other and now I can download transactions flawlessly.
Previous to downloading the latest version I had tried clicking the "update MD" link from within the application and it said I was up to date - I guess the updater lies.

Thanks for your help. I think I will just delete my old budgets. (I made a new one each time I had a significant life change). I need the information more than I need to remember what my budget was before I got my most recent job... Again, great tools! – liquidcool, on October 24, 2008 02:23
liquidcool asked a question in The Infinite Kind on October 19, 2008 00:10:
Can't enter Category for Investment TransactionI'm trying to more closely monitor my investment transactions. I wanted to go back to previous transactions and label sales as Long or Short-term Capital gains to see if this would produce better results when I tried to run MD's limited investment reports.
My problem is I cannot change, or even select the category. I tried changing the category from the other side, but that didn't work either. I believe these are transactions that were imported from Quicken Mac - if that makes a difference.
Please help!
liquidcool asked a question in The Infinite Kind on October 18, 2008 19:05:
Compare investment returns AND include dividendsI want to compare my rate of return for several different securities. Some securities pay dividends and some don't. But MD doesn't include the dividend in the rate of return . In order to compare my gain/loss on a security, I must include returns from dividends.
So, my question is: how do I get a report of my total return: share appreciation AND dividends?

It seems to work perfectly when I select ALL BUDGETS, but not when I select a specific budget. – liquidcool, on October 18, 2008 17:13
liquidcool replied on October 18, 2008 03:41 to the question "transfering stocks to a different brokerage house" in The Infinite Kind:
I've changed brokerages a few times and always started a new account.
Here's why: usually when I transfer, I have to sell and then buy - a realized gain or loss. The best way I have found to record this is by actually selling all shares with a "SellXfr" and transfer the cash to the new account (brokerage Y). Then, in brokerage Y use a "buy" in my new account. This makes sure all the prices and share amounts match by brokerage's statements.
The history remains, and you can set the old account to hide on the home page if the balance is zero. Keep the history, but hide the account.-
