I waited because I am grateful for Twitter being a free service, and I know they are overwhelmed with the fast growth. I only started freaking out when the hijacker began damaging my reputation and whatnot. Fortunately, the service people were quick to reply to my last message, and as a result I have created a very long, complicated password and changed my email. Hopefully others do the same.

I agree wholeheartedly! As a matter of fact, I even go so far as to say, "If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask!" I really do keep track, and when I log in to my Twitter after several hours, I almost always take 10 minutes to read through what I missed. I only hope that my followers gain as much from me as i do from them.
