I've never used one of these devices, but I imagine you can reset it. Have you already tried that? Usually involves sticking a paper clip end into a tiny hole on the device to reset the software. Which model is this?

My Rollerball movement is in select all mode - How to turn this off?
When I go in to my sms or email inbox folders and try and navigate with the rollerball, rather than moving from one item to the next it keeps the original message it was selected on highlighted and selects the next messages down or up the list as you roll. Much the same as when you hold shift and arrow up and down in most windows based apps like selecting files. How do I turn this off??
