Yes, that's exactly my workflow.
Regarding 3.), I just switch back to Changes directly via Cmd-Tab.
BTW I also tried it in isolation in Changes directly, no Versions app involved, and the same thing happens:
1.) echo foo > test1.txt
2.) echo bar > test2.txt
3.) chdiff test{1,2}.txt
4.) (Changes activates. Do not change anything and switch back to Terminal)
5.) echo baz > test2.txt
Now switch back to Changes. The warning appears even though nothing was changed in Changes in step 4. It also appears if you just use the touch command in step 5.
It also happens when using the New Session menu command instead of the chdiff command.

When I'm preparing a commit, I use Changes to go through all the changes to clean up some of them that are just artifacts of the editing process, for example random whitespace changes, TODO markers etc. That means a lot of back and forth between Changes and Xcode. Every time I fix something in Xcode and then return to Changes, I have to click the Revert button.
Marc Liyanage asked a question in Connected Flow on October 21, 2009 16:44:
Unsaved edits warning when there are noneWhen I save a document in my text editor that is open (via the Versions SVN client app) but unchanged in Changes, I get the "There are also unsaved edits in Changes" warning even though there are no such unsaved edits.
I would really like Changes to silently reload the document from disk in these cases.-

Small Feature Suggestion: Add link to S3 access key page to S3 dialogI have a suggestion for a small user interface improvement for the S3 connection dialog, I’ve seen this in another product and thought it was a great idea.
In the connection dialog, it would be useful to have a direct link to Amazon’s “Access Identifiers” page at this URL:
http://aws-portal.amazon.com/gp/aws/d...
This leads the user directly to the page with the access key and secret access key. I always have to hunt down this page whenever I need my access key.
Marc Liyanage replied on March 30, 2009 08:57 to the problem "AppleScript connect doesn't work" in ExpanDrive:
Some additional information... I compared my script to what the “expan” command line tool does.
This doesn’t work:
set myDrives to (drives whose drivename is "fl-primus-team")
connect myDrives
but if I don’t assign the list to a variable but instead give it to the “connect” command directly, it works:
connect (drives whose drivename is "fl-primus-team")
The two should be equivalent, shouldn’t they?
Marc Liyanage reported a problem in ExpanDrive on March 25, 2009 08:32:
AppleScript connect doesn't workI can't get this AppleScript to work:
tell application "ExpanDrive"
set myDrive to item 1 of (drives whose drivename is "fl-primus-team")
connect myDrive
end tell
I verified that the first line works (it doesn’t matter how I get the list of drives). But the connect fails, with this message:
ExpanDrive got an error: Invalid key form.
Any ideas?
Marc Liyanage replied on February 09, 2009 17:42 to the idea "Feature Suggestion: Path list per drive, displayed as submenu" in ExpanDrive:
I like the contextual menu idea.
I don't think there's a lot to tweak in the case of this feature suggestion as outlined in the mock ups. It is, after all, just a list of paths on the remote system. I don't think there should be per-path icons, or per-path cache behavior for these.
And if you look at the mockup, the addition is really very minimal. Just the word "Favorites" and a disclosure triangle. But as I said, I could definitely live with the contextual menu solution, so that casual users whould not even see the "Favorites" in the main sheet. I wouldn't care if the advanced settings are harder to reach.
But I would *really* like to have the ability to reach often-used folders quickly. As mentioned, this is a feature I find sorely missing almost every time I use ExpanDrive, and I use it a lot.

Jeff, you asked the same thing (how to add it to the GUI without clutter) 9 months ago, and 9 months ago I replied with a suggestion, see the two mockup screenshots.
In the first one you see what I would add to the gui: just a word and a disclosure triangle, very minimal. If somebody wants to use the feature, they click the triangle and see the list.
Did you never see that suggestion?

I agree with PDXMan, this used to work.
I got really used to opening files directly from the server with Word, and regularly saving back with Cmd-S. This was never reliabe enough with other SSH file system solutions and ExpanDrive made this possible for the first time.
I don’t know if Word or ExpanDrive changed...

BBEdit is able to access the exact same documents when Word fails to even open them with the message below. I don’t know if it is an MS Word specific problem.
It’s also strange that I was able to open the document once, but then saving failed, as noted above, and now I can’t even open them anymore, even after reconnecting the drive.
Weird...

I also got the "The document name or path is not valid", and in my case the copy on the server is not corrupted, but completely gone. Since I closed the document in Word with the intention of renaming and/or reopening it from the server, I have now completely lost it.
This might be the second time this has happened, unfortunately. I don’t recall seeing this error message from Word last time, but the document also vanished from the server.
Very bad.-
