A great idea. Something you could run once a month to "tidy up". Right now I use a mutable Smart Shelf to list all books by Creator (author) "InsertName" so I can view them quickly. The advantage is that it lists ALL books that contain that name as author, even those by multiple authors where the name you enter is not listed first. It is so easy once you have your Smart Shelf set up; simply copy the name from your master list and paste it into the Smart description -voila - you have a new shortlist to review.-

A comment on the idea "Categories" in Delicious Monster:
Two new categories which mimic the setup for "Apparel" would work for a lot of people for their personal stuff. Call one "Home Decor" and use the snapshot aspect of "Apparel" to let us inset a picture of the item catalogued. This will allow for insurance records of furniture, fine arts, etc, and even antiques and other special items. Another special category could be called "Personal" or "Collections" and would allow people to use it much as they please for their own special thing. Don't be so worried about Amazon links for these things; Amazon.ca doesn't even support half the categories you link to for Amazon.com (e.g. no clothing, don't know if the same is true in other countries.) You can make the "Personal/Collections" category a non-Amazon-linked one ,clearly identified as such, and thereby avoid any search errors or user expectations. I have personally "hijacked" your "Toys" category and use it to catalogued my collection of figurines (putting the figurine ID number in the "creator" field allows me to sort them quickly and easily). Allowing for a third field in the Synopsis (have it called "My ID" or "My info") would let people keep quick track of their own collections more easily. "Apparel" serves me as a way to keep track of things I want but haven't yet found but which don't fit in any of my regular sections (books/etc); the photo aspect is great for that. I really need a new section, however, because I have a large collection of seasonal decorations that I would like to catalogue. Any chances of something like this for DL3? What is the timeline for DL3, by the way? – l.j.desjardins.nl, on November 03, 2009 12:51-
