Sorry to say Mig, but I think so. I'm sure you've heard it by now but it's probably a "Motherboard" ...blah blah blah! Hope you find some resolution to your situation. – ljtonga, on April 01, 2009 01:38

Hi. Because you are close to your warranty, you DELL may be able to help you. But you will need to be persistent when calling customer service. I too was out of warranty, but asking them to escalate the case will force them to seek help from someone above them. Eventually I was sent a replacement adapter, but you may want to get your battery changed as well. I haven't had much luck at the moment getting my battery changed, but don't give up. If they say, I can't help you, just ask then for your case number and ask to escalate. Don't take NO and hang up. Keep going till you find someone to help you. It took me two days, but by the end of that 2nd day, I had a tracking number. Good Luck! Start by calling 1-800-385-3355. – ljtonga, on March 14, 2009 04:26

ljtonga asked a question in Dell on January 02, 2009 01:16:
Inspiron 1520 Adapter Trouble =[For the past month now I have been getting this problem where my system is not recognizing my Adapter. I have already reluctantly puchased a new Battery just a few weeks out of warranty because they would not replace it. Now, just a couple noths after, this problem is happening. After finding this site, I see that this is a very common problem.
When using my wifes charger, it works fine, so I called DELL to have this adapter replaced, and yes, they want me to purchase a new on. That's $75 more out of pocket for something that seems to be a product quality issue. I have been speaking with DELL as I have been a loyal DELL Customer for almost 10 years, and for some reason the quality seems to be deminishing. I do hope that this problem can be resolved as I would like to continue to see DELL in a positive light.
I have a DELL Inspiron 1520 9-cell 85WHR Battery, and do hope someone can help me get an AC adapter/power cord replaced possibly with a 90W charger to ensure better charging. If someone can please help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Please Help!
Service Tag: GHYDDD1. Already replaced my battery about a month and a half ago, just outta warranty. Now my adapter needs to be replaced, and I really feel like the quality of DELL is going down. I spoke with the technical support and out of warranty, which I am still being transferred from one person to another. A new adapter would definately solve my problem, preferably a 90W for my 9-cell 85WHR Battery. Don't know why they sent me a 65W adapter (still excellent condition never used outside my home). If someone can help, I would definatly want to continue to be a satisfied DELL Customer (have been for the almost 10 years now with more than 8 systems purchased). Any help you can give would definately restore my faith in DELL. Thanks =]

I'm having the same problem, and am just a few months out of warranty. I have already been unsuccessful in getting my battery replaced as well, so I was out of $150.00. Now my adapter is giving me this same problem. I've tried using my wifes adapter (identical computer) and it works. I would really appreciate a replacement adapter, maybe the 90w to ensure proper charging. My service tag is GHYDDD1. I've been a satisfied DELL Customer and have numerous systems and do hope that someone can help me. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!
