locris replied on June 11, 2009 12:01 to the problem "30k connections and 100 people waiting - what do I do next?" in LinkedIn:

    locris
As you would know, if you had 30k connections and were on the user side of the fence, but as you probably don't know: The disconnect tool is a pain - it takes ages to load and is slow and cumbersome to use - no good for getting rid of 100's of dormant connections.

It shouldn't be my responsibility to identify dormant connections - how can I - that is a job for LinkedIn. If an account hasn't been accessed for a year, shouldn't you kill it? Or would that deplete your numbers and the success of people searching for connections - i.e. seeing profiles which unbeknown to them are in fact dormant?

Please, simply kill dormant accounts - or even mark them as dormant and give people connected to them the information so they can cut them off - when a dormant account becomes isolated - i.e. only connected with other dormant accounts or no accounts, delete it at your end.

And, get rid of the stupid limit. You are letting people waste their invitations inviting people who can't connect to them - now that's great customer service. Inevitably, big networkers like me are going to have lots of friends who want to connect, however, it is them - the little guys - that you're penalising with this stupidity.

    Cheers John

    Hi Customer Support.

I have 100 outstanding invitations from friends and colleagues.

I have tried to accept them without success. I think this is a fault and that you will be keen to rectify it ASAP.

faceless fb not fab - why have you disabled my account? how can I right a wrong if I don't know what's wrong?
    Hi,

I heard from a friend that you have disabled my account - facebook@locris.com.

This is extremely upsetting as I have put many hours, days, weeks, into building my account and friends on fb. I have Groups and Causes which I have to look after - they collect money for charities!!

I would value an explanation as to what I am supposed to have done wrong and why you have disabled my account, and, more than anything, without the months of pain I hear people talk about, will you reinstate my account, please?

I am the registered 'whois' owner of locris.com (see below) and locris.co.uk which you can check, and this (johnev4ns@aol.com) is my home email address which you will find registered on the Whois for locris.com - anything you write to facebook@locris.com should come to me at johnev4ns@aol.com but due to a SPAM hijack a while ago, locris.com does not send or receive email itself - I redirect incoming mail to johnev4ns@aol.com - no pretence - look at my fb page - no hiding there - I am who I am.

I would appreciate it greatly if you would explain what it is I an supposed to have done wrong, and reinstate my account ASAP.

If you need anymore information from me, let me know?

    Cheers John

    Logo is about Brand.
    I control the Logo
    The screenshot will be random
Quality control will be a nightmare
You may be reproducing copyright or advertising material unintentionally

If you want to use the screenshot approach, make it the default and allow people the option to replace the screenshot with a photo / logo.

    2nd November Invitation problem.

I invited a few friends to join me at SM but the system seemed to have generated multiple emails.

Clearly, it is not meant to happen, I was trying to share something of benefit but managed to piss a few people off.

I reported the problem to the people who run the SocialMedian system and they responded within minutes. Their understanding and speed of action was superb - now that's what I call customer service.

I ask everyone affected to please accept my apologies and SM to find and fix the bug.

I noted that there were previous reports here @getsatisfaction.com) of people receiving 2 or more system generated messages in the past.

It would have been helpful if the invitations had gone out from SM - rather than my email address - and if there had been a response button for receivers of the messages.

    ALl the best.....

LinkedIn - why operate such a large network, if you don't want to talk to people?
Because I still have no answer "14 LinkedIn employees are listening here! - but none has the courage to take up the discussion!!

Over 1 month ago LinkedIn 'Suspended' my account without logical explanation or reason. When I tried to log on I got a message telling me who to contact to resolve the problem, but for 1 month NO ONE from LI would respond to my emails, voice mails, phone calls, etc.
Then, without any prior notification or explanation my account was unsuspended. I spent 3 days wading through over 1250 invitations and 2000 group joining requests, messgaes, introductions, etc, until I had the total down to less than 1000 (of which 700 were Q&A). Then, about 5 days ago, LinkedIn 'Suspended' my account without logical explanation or reason - and once again will not speak with me. I have over 23,000 connections and 500 Groups of which I own and adminster about 25. Not only am I getting NO SERVICE (all though LI is successfully insulting my intelligence and wasting my time) all of my connections and group members are getting no service too!
Having spent several days catching up on some of the outstanding introductions, invitations, group management, etc. after the first unexplained, unreasonable denial of service LI actions are massively inconveniencing others and damaging its own reputation as well as mine. I have a significant backlog of messages etc. still to be dealt with and you have asked me to reduce my group memberships - none of these can I deal with while my account is locked.
    Has LI made a mistake?

The 'Ticket' referred to "use of true names rather than pseudonyms, business names, associations, or groups when registering on our site" I have used my true name and continue to do so - how else could LI communicate with me?

This is verging on corporate bullying, restraint of trade and denial of free speech, all matters about which I am sure you have a passionate view.

Please, someone at LI talk to me? I have done a huge amount for LI to help growth in the UK against the much loved (here) ecadamy and XING, and elsewhere - LI drove one person (at least) to the brink of suicide - is that a corporate policy?

LI's attention - today - would be greatly appreciated.

For those who might cite the use of LION in my name - that is what I am known as by many people - my middle name is Leonard:

My name is John L. Evans - L for Leonard also called Len, Leo and LION!! My grandfather's name was Leonard, he was killed 6 months before I was born in a motorcycle accident!
The boy's name Leonard \le(o)-na-rd\ is pronounced LEN-ard. It is of Old Germanorigin, and its meaning is "lion strength". Name of a saint from the Middle Age who was patron of prisoners. Leonardo isItalian, Spanish, borne by artistLeonardo da Vinci, who is considered to be one of the most brilliant and creative men who ever lived. Thanks for your support and concern.

I think the very simple reason tha LI have locked my account and ignored me - even on here!! is simply because they want tostifle the LIONs!

Should you, or any of your friends or colleagues, wish to connect on LinkedIn (and if we're not already):

    Use email address lion@locris.com

    Use the link - http://tinyurl.com/37yl5h

What do you know - you are evidently a "qwak" ....... ;-)

What you don't appreciate is that all of what I have said is true, but I would only need to post such a lengthy note here - indeed I only need to post here at all - because of the gross insolence of LinkedIn in ignoring me as a customer and my requests for dialogue / explanation.

I can only surmise that LI Customer Service staff are not receiving my messages and that I am being blocked by corporate policy / filters - otherwise am I to conclude that the individual staff (some of whom I have know personally for years and spent many hours talking with) are being rude and ignorant? I don't accept that.
