I probably don't mean misplaced but confusing. It isn't a font that lends itself to be read quickly-- I can't really explain why but it probably is a combination of the spacing between the letters and the size. I have to concentrate harder to read the Orange font than I do when I have to read-- say the WSJ.com subheadings.
When I go to NYTimes, WSJ, CNN, etc. I feel like I'm looking at a wall of information, the new site design seems to lack this characteristic. Whats worse is that it is slow to scroll to the information that I want.
If you really want to make it better, why don't you submit it to some place like Hacker News or a web development community for review?-

Baffled by the designToo much space between the sections.... bold colors that do not create flow... there seems to be much fewer stories on the top page than any other newspaper. Misplaced font on the link bar at the top.... top section takes up almost half the screen-- look at espn, cnn, google, etc. the logo and top section takes up much less room. Make do with less or make it smaller.
As someone else pointed out-- either go with rounded corners or square ones. It should be easy to fix and should make the sight look better right away.
Nice idea but the current site is a put-off.
