its a nice idea. but no. as an answer.

maybe it could be re-suggested as a product idea to allow for (in example) 2 hour licences of the music for offline use?

that sounds like a caching issue. can you run a bandwidth monitor and see if you get a drop in connectivity? the stop and then start again sounds like its spending time buffering because the net connection cannot cope – longshanks, on May 27, 2009 21:22

...because its very difficult to solve such problems without:

1. more info
2. access to your PC

it sounds like a problem with your internet connection/hardware, as its not system wide.

for diagnosis...try this:
open the command prompt, type "ping google.com" (don't press enter)
start streaming on spotify
when streaming stops
go back to the command prompt and press enter
if you receive ping messages back, its a spotify issue, if not its an internet connection problem – longshanks, on May 27, 2009 21:20

depends on your keyboard. mine has 12 programmable hotkeys (although, i am on a desktop).

if your laptop has no media keys (not even through the use of the Function button?) then you either need to get an external keyboard, or you can google for global hotkey software.

I have no recommendations but it should allow you to set a combo of buttons to perform certain functions

A comment on the idea "Adverts at beginning or end of song to enable free downloads?" in Spotify:

you seem to be able to purchase them, or stream them after the we7 intro, but i don't spot the bit where you listen to some ad, and get the mp3 file to download and keep for free.

the only service i see we7 providing above spotify is it has more obvious links to music...but spotify has them in an unobtrusive place (preferable)

awesome. as long as:
1. it doesn't get filled with rubbish videos
2. it doesn't slow down music playing
3. it doesn't result in ++ads
4. it doesn't slow down devt. progress on other little things (like more control, preference options, etc)

have no idea how much advertising this would take, or how much a track would be sold to spotify to sell in this way. but i like it. or at least the option to have it. if it works, i'd happily sit and watch/listen to hours and hours of ads for free (high quality) mp3 tracks i can take away with me
