lonita reported a problem in Soup on June 08, 2009 11:58:
Service import iconsIt seems that each post I import has the correct service icon next to it EXCEPT for imports from tumblr. They all seem to have some generic arrow icon. Is there any way to fix this?

lonita replied on June 04, 2009 09:06 to the problem "Problems with Sprint Picture phone upload" in Mobog:
I am going to lay dollars to doughnuts that whatever problems are being experienced with Sprint are the same I'm experiencing with Bell Mobility in Canada. It does the same things to pictures in MMS messages that I've heard has been happening with Spring customers - embedding images into emails that can't be dug out by normal means, overriding the subject content so that it sends all photos with a Picture / Video Message as a title instead of what the user inputs, small images when you've sent large ones.
Other people on other services have complained of these issues, sometimes they're fixed, but Bell won't alter its coding habits to accomodate the same things other services don't get in the way of. It's very frustrating. There isn't a single mobile photo blogging service that I can use the way it's meant to be used.

They blame it on third-party lack of coding ability. There is apparently a solution out there, other sites have used it with the Spring network in the US. It has the same issues we're complaining of here. I wish someone would just get around to fixing that up for us.
I've tried talking to Bell too. I would suggest going to their website and using one of the feedback forms there to make the complaints. If nothing else, at least there'll be a record of the complaint. I'm not sure they always forward vocal concerns to the right people.
If Bell would just NOT embed items into HTML, it would be great. No one else who provides service around here seems to find it a problem.

Faboo!I've done a lot of whinging today, and have appreciated the response, so I'd like to take the opportunity to say what a wonderful idea Plinky is. It has so much potential, yet is so simple at the same time. Whoever thought it up deserves a cookie. Give them a BIG cookie!

lonita asked a question in Thing Labs on February 04, 2009 01:24:
Plinky icon in postsThe Plinky icon that goes into shared posts doesn't show up well as my background is black. Do you think you'll be adding either a text link or an image where the icon text is more visible?

My LJ url is: http://lonita.livejournal.com
If you look you'll see the huge amount of whitespace. It doesn't happen on the feed that goes to my website via LJ, just on LJ itself.
