Hi Freeman-
We're currently looking into the issue with some TypePad members not being able to sign in.
The Status site - http://status.sixapart.com/ - is being updated with our progress.

Jen replied on August 06, 2009 04:18 to the question "Customize the list of categories" in Six Apart:
Hi Albert-
Depending on what changes you want to make, you can use some CSS similar to:
.module-categories { font-size: 14px; text-align: right; }
.module-categories .module-list-item a { color: red; text-decoration: none; }
.module-categories .module-list-item a:hover { color: red; text-decoration: none; }
.module-categories .module-list-item a:active { color: red; text-decoration: none; }
.module-categories .module-list-item a:visited { color: red; text-decoration: none; }
to change the style of the font in the list. To change the spacing between items in the list:
.module-categories .module-list-item { margin: 4px 4px 4px 4px; }
where you can edit the 4px to change the spacing on top, right, bottom, and left respectively.

With a Basic design for your blog, you can also add the Google search to your sidebar with a Notes TypeList. We have a Knowledge Base article on setting this up here: http://kb.typepad.com/id/177/
You do not need to use Advanced Templates to add the Google search box to your blog.
Jen replied on July 28, 2009 22:58 to the problem "Themes won't display" in Six Apart:
Hi Arnold! The Domain Mapping is not set up correctly. The subdomain - blog.stagelightwiki.com - is forwarding to http://stagelightblog.typepad.com/. Forwarding a domain is not the same as Domain Mapping, and the settings in TypePad are for Domain Mapping only.
If you activate the domain in TypePad without the correct settings in place, the stylesheet (which contains the design elements) will not be found preventing any design from displaying.
More information on the differences between mapping and forwarding is available in the Domain Mapping FAQs here: http://kb.typepad.com/id/539/
To restore your blog design, you will need to deactivate the domain in TypePad. Go to the Control Panel tab > Site Access > Domain Mapping (or Account > Domain Mapping in the new TypePad interface) and click to deactivate the domain.
In order to set up Domain Mapping, you need to remove any masking or forwarding set up for the domain and edit the CNAME Record to point to your TypePad domain name:
stagelightblog.typepad.com
More information on setting up Domain Mapping at your registrar is available here: http://kb.typepad.com/id/181/
If you open a Help Ticket within your account, we can set up Domain Mapping for you.

Jen asked a question in Six Apart on June 15, 2009 21:40:
Hosting XML & XSLT content on TypePadA TypePad member opened a Help Ticket with questions about using XML and XSLT. Do any other members of the TypePad community have experience using TypePad in this way?
Here's their question:
I'd like to generate some pages on my site using XML and XSLT: ideally with the <$MT...$> tags intact, to allow me to maintain the existing layout.
Any XML content tends to be considered to be an RSS feed, so I've managed to get around that by pretending the file is HTML. This works, but does not allow me to display it as part of the standard blog layout (columns, etc.):
http://through-the-interface.typepad....
Any suggestions?
Jen replied on June 15, 2009 01:25 to the question "Problems with Domain Forwarding" in Six Apart:
When forwarding additional domains to your blog, only the Forward will be set up at GoDaddy, not the CNAME Record, and the domain will not be added to your TypePad account.
Currently, you have multiple domains added to your TypePad account at Control Panel > Site Access > Domain Mapping. Only the domain - www.londonelicious.com - which you want to be used as the main domain for your blog should be listed within TypePad.
At Control Panel > Site Access > Domain Mapping, you will want to Remove the multiple domains from your TypePad account.
You may also need to set the CNAME Record back to the GoDaddy default if you have changed it for the alternate domains.
Here's a screenshot of where the Forwarding is set up in GoDaddy:

TypePad uses the domain name for the URL when creating links on your blog, like the Permalinks. If you map more than one domain name to the same blog, there will be a conflict about which domain name to use for the URLs. We recommend setting up forwards, instead of domain mapping, for any additional domains for this reason.
More information is available in the Domain Mapping FAQs here:

Jen replied on May 31, 2009 18:08 to the question "Operation Aborted error" in Six Apart:
Kellie, what is the URL for your blog? Then, we can take a look at it.
As you mentioned, the most common cause of the problem is an errant script not supported by Internet Explorer. Widgets are the most likely culprits in this case. You mentioned you removed the TypeLists from your blog, but did you remove any widgets?
Any code included in your posts can also cause an error. You may try changing the status of the post published before the error to Draft to see if that resolves the problem.
Once we know the web address for your blog, however, we can investigate further.
Jen replied on May 25, 2009 21:13 to the question "Hiding Technorati tags?" in Six Apart:
If you are using a Basic design, you can click to Weblogs > Design > Content. Then, click the yellow, pencil icon next to the Post Footer module. Unselect the option to display Technorati Tags and save changes.
With Advanced Templates, the templates will will need to be edited to remove the tag:
<$MTWeblogIncludeModule module="technorati-tags"$>
from the entry-list, entry-individual, and entry-list-sticky modules.
Jen replied on April 17, 2009 18:49 to the question "Can my blog be my Open ID?" in Six Apart:
When you login to edit your TypePad Profile - http://typepad.com/connect/dashboard - you can add your blog URL to your Profile. Then, the URL will be linked to your comment name when you are signed into your TypePad OpenID account to submit a comment.

Your Profile photo included next to the comment will be a link to your TypePad Profile page, but the comment author name will link directly to your blog.
You can see this in action on the Everything TypePad blog here:

Jen replied on April 17, 2009 17:40 to the question "Can my blog be my Open ID?" in Six Apart:
Your TypePad Profile URL can be used as your OpenID. You can set your TypePad Profile URL by logging in with your TypePad email/password at:
http://typepad.com/connect/dashboard
And clicking the Edit Profile link in the right column. Then, you can set your Profile URL.
When logging into a site with OpenID, enter your Profile URL which will be similar to http://profile.typepad.com/example and select TypePad from the drop-down menu. When the Profile URL is verified, you'll be prompted to enter your TypePad login information.
Does that answer your question? Or are you trying to set up comments on your blog with OpenID?
To include OpenID as a login option on your blog for comments, you can install TypePad Connect - no Advanced Templates needed - by clicking the 'Connect A Blog' link when logged in here:
http://typepad.com/connect/dashboard

The second post on the page contains an open br tag at the very end. If you click to the HTML tab on the Compose page for the post, you can remove the errant tag - br - and click Save to update your blog.

We're working on correcting the issue with the Windows XP uploader which is scheduled to be fixed in an upcoming release. In the meantime, you may want to use a zip file to upload multiple images to your album:

Jen replied on January 12, 2009 23:11 to the problem "Editing Changes to scheduled and published posts?" in Six Apart:
Are you only seeing the HTML version of your existing post or page from the Compose page? Or are you just unable to go to Weblogs > Posts and click on the title of the post to edit it?
If you are only seeing the HTML version of the post from the Compose page, you may need to switch the formatting options - http://kb.typepad.com/id/1297/ - by choosing 'HTML' from the 'Format this as:' menu in the lower, left corner of the text box. This change will display both the Rich Text/HTML tabs for editing, and you can flip to Rich Text.
