I'm taking a closer look at these and others offered by desktop software. Note that single-engine and multi-engine time is determined by the aircraft type on Jetrecord, so those will not be necessary. – Harry Love, on September 10, 2008 20:57

I recently came across a third-party service called TweetTrak that lets you track any keyword (including your @username).
If it detects any public tweet that contains any of your specified keywords, TweetTrak will send you that tweet as a DM. If you have DM enabled, you'll receive the @reply as a DM from TweetTrak.
It's not instantaneous, since it's searching Twitter Search for your keywords. But if you're away from your computer, it's a great supplement.
See http://tweettrak.com for details.
The best part: you don't need to give it your Twitter password. You only need to follow @tweettrak so it can send you DMs.
Edited to add: they're also here in GSFN: http://getsatisfaction.com/tweettrak

The way my logbook is setup, I have the following columns:
Single Engine:
Day:
Dual (1)
PIC (2)
Night:
Dual (3)
PIC (4)
Multi-Engine:
Day:
Dual (5)
PIC (6)
Co-Pilot (7)
Night:
Dual (8)
PIC (9)
Co-Pilot (10)
These columns are "mandatory" in that all flight hours must fall into one (and only one) of these columns. Flights that for example start during the day and end at night would be split up so that the number of day hours are under day, and night hours under night. There's no "Duration" field, it's just the sum of the columns.
In addition to these fields, I have extra fields that I enter the times to log cross-country, etc. These times are not part of the grand total, so the times are entered here and in one of the 1-10 fields. The fields I have are:
Cross Country:
Dual
PIC
Night
Instrument:
Actual
Hood
SIM
# IFR Approaches
I think you could get rid of the "duration" field, and set it's value to the sum of 1-10. It would be one less thing to fill out when adding flights.

You can choose to receive "direct messages only" on your phone by going to http://twitter.com/devices and making that selection.
The only way I know of to receive @replies on your phone is to track your username. Unfortunately, Track is currently offline and won't be back until they've had a chance to recode it.-

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the e-mail that Virgin Mobile generates, and I think the issue might be similar to Sprint. Virgin sends an e-mail with a thumbnail attached, and a link to "View Message". This page has the thumbnail, and a link to "Larger Image" and "Download Media".
Larger image is a compressed version (~30KB) and Download Media gives a form that allows to chose which images to download (uses javascript for submit), resulting in a zip file with the uncompressed images (~300KB in my case).
The "View Message" link contains a unique invite code:
http://pxt.virginmobile.ca:80/shareMe...(invite code)
Which is used by the "Download Media" link as:
http://pxt.virginmobile.ca/guest/down...(invite code)

Louis Bourque asked a question in TwitPic on May 25, 2008 02:25:
TwitPic uses header image instead of my pictureI tried to send a picture using Virgin Mobile (Canada). The e-mail that they generate has a header image stating "A PXT for you" with their logo. TwitPic uses this images instead of the one I actually want to send. The header is actually bigger (63KB) while the image I send was compressed to 10KB. See: http://twitpic.com/1gaj
Is there anything that can be done about this or am I out of luck? Does anyone know why my picture was compressed so small (It's 250KB on the phone) and if I can prevent that?
Louis Bourque reported a problem in SocialThing on May 04, 2008 12:38:
Last Facebook Status repeatsWhen I look at my lifestream, the last facebook update repeats itself evey other item. Right now my lifestream looks like this:
(about 10 twitter updates)
facebook status update 1
twitter message 1
facebook status update 1
twitter message 2
facebook status update 1
twitter message 3
facebook status update 1
twitter message 4
facebook status update 1
twitter message 4
flick update
facebook status update 1
facebook status update 2
(some other items that are normal)
Last night the facebook message that was repeating was different, so it looks like it's just repeating the last facebook status message.
I'm using "Sort Lifestream by Time" and using FF3b5
