Lucia replied on July 01, 2008 00:28 to the question "Soundtrack station" in Pandora:
Yes indeed, you can make a soundtrack station on Pandora.
However, your station won't just stick to music from the soundtrack; it'll have the music discovery aspect just like regular stations.
To make the soundtrack station, just pick the songs from the album that you like, and create a station from those song titles. Obviously, thumbs down any songs you hear that you don't think belong on the station.
There's a bunch of sample soundtrack stations here: http://rurl.org/ubi
Try some out and see what you think!
Also, it sounds like you like orchestral soundtracks. We are in the process of improving our classical / orchestral soundtrack collection, and we're adding new albums every week. Expect orchestral soundtrack stations to get much better over the next couple of months, as we continue to beef up our collection.
I hope that helps!

Oh no! I'm sorry Petar. I wish I personally could help. We'll continue working on getting Pandora to be a global radio service, but it will take a bit of time... – Lucia, on July 01, 2008 00:02

I'm so sorry, Raj! We hope to be legal in Canada some time, but it all depends on licensing laws. We miss you too! :) – Lucia, on June 30, 2008 23:17

Good question, and feel free to send us your requests and suggestions on this topic!
Here's a quick list of some of the social features on Pandora:
1. While you're listening...
In the Extras box below the music player, you can do two social-type things:
*** I think this is the social feature you would be most interested in. ;) ***
a. If you have "About This Music" displayed in the Extras box , you can choose the "Fans" tab at the far right if you'd like to see which other listeners are enjoying the music you're listening to. Click on "more" at the bottom right to see more fans and try their other stations.
b. If you have "Your Profile" displayed in the Extras box, you can choose the "Friends" tab at the far right to see what your Pandora friends are listening to.
2. Backstage...
You can browse around Backstage to find what other people are listening to. You can search for stations or for listener profiles.
http://pandora.com/backstage
Feel free to search by artist names, but you can also look for descriptors such as: happy, wedding, exercise, sleepy, Guitar Hero, angry, etc.
3. Facebook...
We have a cool Facebook application here:

Have fun and discover some great new music!

A comment on the question "Why does Pandora sometimes play only one movement of a classical piece?" in Pandora:

Lucia replied on June 20, 2008 22:58 to the question "Why does Pandora sometimes play only one movement of a classical piece?" in Pandora:
Great question.
Pandora is caught in a complicated set of licensing rules that were designed for the world of pop songs and ignore the realities of how classical music is presented by the record labels.
One of these licensing rules prevents us from playing a number of consecutive tracks from the same album.
Unfortunately many labels choose to divide longer classical movements into separate tracks. We're required to treat each track as a separate "song." The result is that you sometimes don't get to listen to a whole piece uninterrupted.
We're having to choose between offering portions of fine performances of outstanding music and not offering those works at all. Meanwhile, we're always on the lookout for classical CDs where the movements are not chopped up, so we can add those to our collection.
Thanks for the great question, and you can bet we'll continue to brainstorm on this issue!

Why does Pandora sometimes play only one movement of a classical piece?@pandora_radio Will we ever be able to listen to whole classical works instead of just one movement?
Lucia marked one of Cameron Walters' replies in Get Satisfaction as useful. Cameron Walters replied to the idea "It would be great if Overheard was updated more quickly; close to real-time, ideally.".
Lucia shared an idea in Get Satisfaction on June 19, 2008 22:45:
It would be great if Overheard was updated more quickly; close to real-time, ideally.I'd like to use Overheard more often, but the twitter posts that are showing up in Pandora's Overheard feed are often several hours old. (Whereas I can find tweets in Summize.com almost instantaneously.)
I usually try to respond to twitter questions as quickly as possible, so I haven't been using Overheard as much as I could. I'm guessing this lag is due to Twitter's downtime issues, but I'm not sure, so I thought I'd mention it.
Thanks!

Lucia replied on June 17, 2008 00:36 to the idea "Pandora should match songs by tempo, or BPM..." in Pandora:
Hi tyrsalvia -
Great question!
You're right: if you've seeded a station with an artist (or a song by that artist) that artist cannot be banned on that station.
In fact, if you've given any of that artist's songs a thumbs up on a station, the artist cannot be banned on that station.
So in your scenario: you give 1 thumbs up, then 2 thumbs downs to an artist. The first thumbs up counts as positive feedback about that song, and will affect your station accordingly. (if there are other similar songs by the artist, it's likely they'll be played on that station.)
The 2 songs you axed will never play again on that station. So you'll be able to customize your station based on specific aspects of that artist's repertoire.
I hope that helps!
:) Lucia
