Thank you Angel ! Your report allowed me to fix a silly xml bug. Mark is definitely a staff member now but you need to invite him to the project once I push this bug fix online which should be in a couple of minutes.

Thanks for your report Mark ! Sorry that you got hit by this. :(

Just for some background, the user settings page has gone through several iterations including the original save settings per section (several independent forms for user data, location, photo) and a previous "ajax" upload implementation for the photo that avoided the form reset issue you bring up. For instance the account settings page is still using in the multi independent forms logic.

Now, I think we need to have a consistent way for users to interact with these "complex" forms and from your remark it seems the rule is basically "no surprises" which means if there are parts of a larger form that can be submitted (like the photo) then there should be no changes (and I bet no validation) in the other parts of the form.

However, it seems to me that even in this case there is an issue with the "save settings" button because some users may expect that uploading a photo will not have a permanent effect if they don't hit the "save settings" button.

What makes sense to you ? Any other ideas ?

The logic that is currently implemented for asset thumbnail generation is that the asset image is scaled to thumbnail size, then centered and cropped square so small long images don't look nice. I think the problem is scaling is currently allow to enlarge small images, giving the effect you show with small large images. I'll switch to not allowing image enlargement and we can see if that makes more sense.

Hmm, no its not directly tied to the menu. It's because of an earlier bug fix that introduced this new bug. Fixing this now.

Thanks looks like a regression tied to the new mockup pull down menu. I'll look into that asap so we can do a spot release with a fix soon.

Thanks again Michael for your feeback. The issue is fixed in source and will be out in the next beta refresh due Aug 4th unless we need to do a spot release before then. The issue is coming with the way flash is drawn by the flash plugin as described here http://www.communitymx.com/content/ar... The solution was to use wmode "opaque" more liberally ! :)
