Hmm. I just double-checked this on my own MBP, and it does appear to be acting strange.
In the past I used to limit device correction to only operate when the input and output devices matched. I have since removed that restriction (since 'built-in output' and 'line-in' don't match on the MBP despite being on the same physical device), but it appears there is now a bug lurking in the correction code that only affects this specific case.
Note that correction works (and has always worked) fine on outboard USB and Firewire devices.
Hopefully I'll be able to get a fix together soon.

I am using mini plug to RCA adaptors with a cable left on channel 2. Channel 1 is driven by an external mic. The connections on channel 1 must be correct since the speaker measurements are valid with device correction turned off.
Step one of testing the loopback on channel 2 is done with correction turned off and there is a curve similar to the one in the manual. Step 2 is to turn on device correction and that produces a straight line that is basically a blank graph. The loopback cable remains connected.
Now back to channel 1 for mic measuring, I get a jaggy noise graph that increases with frequency. I have to go back and uncheck device correction to get a valid mic measurement.

Can you give me a detailed description of how you've set up the loopback and measurement connections?
Are you using minijack -> RCA converters so you can split out the loopback channel from the measurement channel? Also, are you doing this with an external microphone?
More details will help me determine what's going on here.

Loopback on internal cardChris you told me earlier that loopback would now work for the MacBook Pro internal card. I'm using the latest rev but still having trouble. The loopback seems to work on channel 2 in that the before and after results in a dead straight line with correction turned on. The problem is that measurements on channel 1 no longer work unless I turn off device correction. I believe that all channels are connected properly.
