A comment on the problem "Out of heap space when many pending tasks" in Wuala:
Hm.. the simplest way to get the .hprof file would be to upload it to wuala and send me a link to it. Does Wuala also crash if you use a dummy account? (Btw: my email: luzius@wuala.com) – Luzius, on August 26, 2009 16:33

In theory, the backup process shouldn't create more than 100 transactions at a time. So I'm not sure why this happened. You should be able to get rid of the error by clearing the transaction cache. Thereby, you will lose all pending changes, but you might be able to work again. If you want to help us to track the cause of the error down, please try starting Wuala with the following modified launcher:
http://www.wuala.com/Wuala%20Communit...
It should create a big file with the ending .hprof the next time Wuala runs out of memory. If you send that to us, we can analyze it.
btw: I couldn't find your sent in reports, is your username johnny? You can also paste the message here. – Luzius, on August 26, 2009 14:58
Luzius replied on August 26, 2009 12:55 to the question "is Wuala legal?" in Wuala:
Thanks bagelcat. Making storage traders responsible for the data on their computers would be a little like making the postal office responsible when someone uses it to mail illegal letters to someone. As long as you are not directly aware of a specific case, you should be safe.
And if you don't think so, you can always buy storage from us and let us do the storing of the data. :)

@tigurr: we've identified the problem and will release a fix with the next update. Meanwhile, you can prevent it from happening by deleting the local cache:
C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\Wuala\Data\Local2
and
C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\Wuala\Data\Meta
Maybe also:
C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Roaming\Wuala

I've identified two possible causes for this problem. One is rather theoretical. The other one would be such that processing of transactions would continue if you do something in the client that triggers loading metadata from the server (e.g. visiting the world area). Both causes are fixed, let us know if the error still appears after the next update (scheduled for within the next few days).

Bitte folgendes versuchen:
1. In den Ordner
C:\Users\Luzius\AppData\Local\Wuala\Program0
(bzw. den entsprechenden Ordner auf XP) gehen. Dort die Datei "Wuala.288" nach "Wuala.old" umbenennen.
Luzius replied on July 22, 2009 07:28 to the problem "wuala does not start anymore!" in Wuala:
Hi, thanks for your report. It looks like a data error in the preferences. The next update (planned of middle of August) will resolve this. Alternatively, you can delete your local settings by deleting all the Prefs* files in the Wuala folder (/Users/NAME/Library/Application Support/Wuala/..). Your online time and your storage will stay, however, your online-time history will disappear and you'll have to reenable trading.

Hi nickname, the pace has indeed slowed down a little. The reason for this was a focus on stability. However, the next release will introduce two nice new features. You'll see. :)
What feature would be on top of your wish-list? – Luzius, on June 26, 2009 09:20
A comment on the question "Why has the minimum upload speed been set to 10 KB?" in Wuala:
@nickname: actually the lan awareness is something that has been on my mind for quite a while now. With some luck, we'll do something in that direction near the end of the year. – Luzius, on June 10, 2009 15:58
Luzius replied on June 10, 2009 15:17 to the question "Why has the minimum upload speed been set to 10 KB?" in Wuala:
Please note that the 10kB/s minimum was always there. All we changed is how this is shown in the settings. Previously, you could set the rate to 5kB/s in the settings. However, Wuala has always ignored settings below 10kB/s. All the new update did is making this limit more obvious, but it has been there since the early alpha.

Please read:

And send a report to abuse@wuala.com if you think that's necessary.
PS: To me, this looks like a personal dispute between lele and gpolice.
