A comment on the question "What does "people" refer to in my URL?" in Get Satisfaction:
I am sorry that we can't communicate on the same level, Eric. To me, there is no need for anyone"to make assumptions about what" I "see", since I wrote it in the initial question:
>> What does "people" refer to in my address: http://getsatisfaction.com/people? <<
How you have translated this in your mind to something else is a mystery to me. Either way, I got a reply from Amy in a language that I understand. Best. Kevin – m2i, on November 29, 2008 20:10

For the love of music. What does music do to you emotionally?
m2i replied on November 29, 2008 00:37 to the question "What does "people" refer to in my URL?" in Get Satisfaction:
Thank you for the quick response. However... You are asking me? I didn't design the Get Satisfaction platform... I am asking about it.
Our full url is:
http://getsatisfaction.com/people/m2i
It has a number of "building bricks".
1. http://
2. getsatisfaction
3. com/
4. people/
5. m2i
All have a purpose and refer to something.
Now, this section doesn't require any explanation (to me):
http://getsatisfaction.com/
Which leaves us with this section: people/m2i
Now, I know what "m2i" stands for, since it is our organization. We "put it there".
But the "people/" section... We had no part in this part of designing the structure of the url; hence it came with the Get Satisfaction architecture.
Some programmer or someone else "put it there".
I am thinking that it means SOMETHING...
Since there are options when signing up.. (one can register as a person, a company or an organization) it would naturally be good for us - as an organization - to know that we have not either done something wrong in the process, or have been assigned to the wrong category.
So, once again... What does "people" refer to, in the url that looks like this:
http://getsatisfaction.com/people/m2i
Thank you.

Wow... this is like when you click "Help" on Microsoft products and get a good description of everything you already know about your problem. But not the answer. The answer here would be to not take for granted that everybody knows what you define as a "company" versus an "organization". Example) The Red Cross may be labeled an organization. Microsoft a Company. The key difference in this example is the profit motive. – m2i, on November 28, 2008 23:30-
